"The toilet bidet and the room light was not working. The staff offered a room change but we had already unpacked so we declined. But we did not expect the aircon was also not working and we opened one of the windows for fresh air but the noise from the rain heating the roofs made it worse! Did they give us the worst room? Overall, we did not sleep well at all."

"Friendly staff, clean and comfortable rooms, and a lovely open-air bath with a great atmosphere. The morning power walking activity was a fantastic way to start the day. Only downside—due to a recent landslide, the usual forest view is currently partially available."

"The hotel had hot springs for the guest to use and the room was large, plenty of space to walk around which is not typical for most Japanese hotels. Room also had plenty of storage space and even had a patio looking over the waterfront. It's not a clear view of the waterfront but it's something. "

"Very convenient to ferry, a short bus ride away from the train station. Good breakfast, coin laundry, amazing view. Large room, hotel staff very helpful. Clean and comfortable. "

"Even thought the hotel is old, due to aging city's economy and population decrease, however it was well maintained and clean. Staff was very kind. The view from the hotel room looking at Shimabara castle was fantastic. Location is very convenient, close to the arcade shopping area although most stores weren't operating, close to samurai residential street and carp street. I'll definitely stay at this hotel again. "This was ok for one night. Road noise was a bit loud, but they provided ear plugs which was nice. I was put in the unit attached to the check in office and next to smoking area which was not ideal. Nice staff, comfy bed. "

"After missing the last bus and a 30+ minute walk from the station, relaxing a hotel never felt so good. In terms of design, it looked like an older hotel. It was clean and suited my needs. I booked a non-smoking room and the staff did their best to get rid of the smoke smell. However, it was still there after my last night but it didn’t bother me. "
