Paradise Found
This property is even more beautiful than the photos show. The master bedroom is beyond anything I’ve ever stayed in before. Spectator views of the ocean. Every room has great views of the garden. The place is well equipped for a family holiday and perfectly maintained. Preston lives on site and was extremely helpful if we needed anything but otherwise we didn’t see him. I would certainly return again. We have spent every Christmas on the north shore for twenty and this is the most magnificent home we have seen there. The position is perfect.

My family of 6 came to stay here May 14 thru the 24. We had an amazing time. The house is beautiful and had enough space for all of us. The kitchen was well stocked as we cooked a lot of our meals in. The beach was amazing and the sunsets were beautiful. We were truly sad to leave. The host Preston helped with everything including finding a wheelchair for my husband when ours broke and even a new TV when one went out. Overall I would recommend staying here 10+ over 10!

The perfect spot
We spent 10 days here before and after our wedding. The place was absolutely amazing and allowed for us to have a great time with friends and enjoy everything the north shore has to offer. Beautiful stay on North Shore
We had 8 people and 3 generations celebrating our 45th wedding anniversary at Hale Pono in early August. Making the reservation was easy, communication was clear, timely and informative, The onsite manager, Alix, was able to grant us an early check in which was very appreciated after a long travel day. The gated property is private, lush and has amazing ocean views with easy access. The house is spacious and public areas are elegant, The bedroom en suites are perfect and the kitchen was well equipped as we did cook in most nights. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to our friends. It was a peaceful retreat at the end of each busy day.

We had an unbelievable stay at Hale Pono! Absolutely one of the best spots and homes on the North Shore. The home was perfect for our family of seven, everyone had a comfortable bed and room to spread out and relax. Air conditioned rooms were wonderful! Kitchen and family area was perfect for mornings and evenings and the home together, and I cannot say enough about the heavenly owners suite upstairs! The absolute best part of Hale Pono are the views, hearing the waves right outside your windows, and the access to the beach. So easy to get the kids down to the beach and then back up and showered in the fun outdoor shower!! I will miss my morning drink in the porch listening to the waves!! Thank you for sharing such an incredible place with our family!

Birthday family celebration
My family arrived to celebrate my husband's 60th birthday and our daughter's 30th birthday. We were blown away from the minute we walked in! The house and the view was spectacular. Alix happily greeted us and was so kind to leave a wonderful carrot cake from Ted's Bakery for the birthday celebrations! The house was extremely comfortable and spacious for the 4 couples and everyone loved it's warmth and beauty. The big couch was a favorite amongst us all!!! So comfortable. We were all sad to leave after 10 days in this paradise. We feel blessed to have been all together and to have had such a wonderful experience. We look forward to returning again one day! North Shore Gem!
We spent a wonderful week at Hale Pono on the North Shore. The house was spacious for 4 couples with all the amenities one could need during their stay. Having a beach right in the back yard is amazing! Alix, the property manager, was amazing throughout the whole experience. She has a residence in the garage apartment on the property but was not intrusive on our family vacation at all. She was very responsive whenever we had questions arise during our stay. Would highly recommend staying here if you want to stay on the North Shore. Haleiwa is only a 15 minute drive away, as is Turtle Bay Resort. Sunset Beach and Shark's Cove is also just down the road. Ted's Bakery is less than a 10 minute walk from the Hale Pono (get their chocolate haupia cream pie!). The views from the upstairs master suite are incredible, and the sounds of the waves on the shore and the view of the ocean create a serene environment to enjoy your morning coffee on the lanai.

Hawaii Perfection
We just returned from Hale Pono. The location was exactly what we were looking for along the North Shore. It was private and quiet, our own piece of paradise for a week. The accommodations were wonderful, and the home well equipped. Alix was welcoming, then left us alone to enjoy each other’s company. We were there with our entire family to celebrate our birthdays and our 35th wedding anniversary. Thank you, Elyse, for sharing your incredible home. We hope to be back one day.

Great Home in a Great Location
We had four adults and four children (7/6/6/2.5 years), so we needed a larger home. This stood out to us on VRBO as one of the best options in the area, and when we arrived, it was exactly as advertised. The master bedrooms are gigantic and the upstairs bedroom has an incredible balcony with a view of the water. The new air conditioning units in each bedroom made it far more comfortable than it otherwise would have been for sleeping. That's a great upgrade. The kitchen is well-equipped (I wanted to steal the electric kettle), and the open concept with the living and dining room makes it great for families to keep an eye on kids. Outside, the lawn was great for the kids, and the beach beyond is perfect. We were there in summer, so the waves were small. There are some rocky areas in the water, but it's easy to avoid them. We couldn't get the kids out of the water. There is a creek on the side of the house that, at least when we were there, didn't flow into the ocean but just pooled short of it. It did act as a great place for the kids to explore. There were tadpoles all over, and a mother with her little ducklings grew up in front of our eyes. It was like having our own pet ducks since they would come up to us every time they saw us, undoubtedly begging for food. The location is great for access to Turtle Bay's beaches and restaurants (10 minutes), La'ie is only 10 minutes further (careful, it's a dry town), and Foodland Pupukea is just 10 minutes the other way. Waimea Falls is right beyond that. Unfortunately, traffic from that point on to Hale'iwa is pretty awful in the afternoons, so if you plan on doing a lot of driving longer distances, get ready to sit for a long time and get frustrated. But for those looking to stay local and take advantage of the north shore, this house is an excellent choice.

Unforgettable family vacation
Our family just returned from an unforgettable week at Hale Pono. Elyse, we had such an incredible time in your home! We were celebrating my Mom's 80th birthday and she was thrilled; said it was exactly what she and my Dad wanted for our family vacation. We could not have asked for a more beautiful location. The views were amazing and it was so perfect to be able to just walk down to the beach and snorkel every day. We loved sitting on the lanai so much that we ate dinner at home every night and watched the beautiful sunsets. There were 9 of us and there was plenty of room for everyone. My daughter loved the outdoor shower so much that she used it every single day! Even though we loved our spot, we did get out and explore Shark’s cove for snorkeling and made our way into Haleiwa for shaved ice. We also made sure to walk over to Ted’s Bakery for some yummy pie! A big thank you to Alix for greeting us and making sure we were all set. Thank you so much for making our trip such a memorable experience. We truly hope to make it back again! Mahalo.

This house was so beautiful and the location is so great there is very little reason to leave once you arrive! We spent 80% of our vacation on the beach in back of the yard and patio at the home. Alix was easy to reach and so helpful with any thing we needed. The house was very clean and the bedrooms spacious. We were there with 3 generations of family members and never felt crowded. We are looking forward to returning again for other family vacations.

Quiet beach house
This home is located in a gated community just on the edge of Sunset beach. It has the best beach entry for swimmers. There is a wash out next to the property were people walk through to access the beach. This was not a problem as everyone was either a local or were coming to enjoy the beach. On a busy day there was maybe 12 people. The home has nice views and a large sloping lawn to enter the beach. Alix is the caretaker who lives over the detached with her daughter and is more than helpful and pleasant. We only saw her once during our stay so don't worry about your privacy. The home is equipped with the standards that you would expect. There is alot of condiments left from others, so that you won't need to purchase too many necessities. It was very clean and we appreciated having A/C units in each of the bedrooms. I can highly recommend this property.

Thank you for this nice review. However, Alix does not live with her daughter in the apartment over the garage. The child you saw is her grandchild who had come for a swim. Alix lives alone and also has a home in Pupukea where she spends a lot of her time.

Very beautiful, and beach is almost private!
Everything was wonderful. A couple mintor issues were taken care of immediately by Alix, the property manager. We can't say enough about her warm welcome even though we arrived very late due to a canceled flight. She was so sweet in leaving us some food so we didn't have to go to bed hungry! The space was perfect for our family of 8, ages 4-64. We will definitely stay at Hale Pono again if we return to that area!

Truly magical!
We just arrived home from a 9 night stay at Hale Pono and could not have been more pleased! The home itself is luxurious! Beautifully decorated but still very family friendly. We had our 4.5 year old son and our 3 adult daughters and the home worked perfectly for all ages. There were tons of sand toys, boogie boards, floats, etc. to make hanging at the beach fun as well as cozy beach towels. The linens and towels in the home were very high end and comfy. The kitchen literally had everything you could need...even to cook Thanksgiving dinner for 12 which we did! The views were incredible...truly some of the best we saw the entire trip were from the front porch. The outdoor shower made you really feel like you were on vacation! The owners put in A/C in the bedrooms which we only used on 2 nights when the wind wasn't as strong so that was a nice addition but honestly 95% of the time we didn't even thing about it since the weather and breeze were so nice. Every member of our family said it was their favorite vacation we have ever had which is saying a lot because we have taken some wonderful trips over the years! Mahalo for our magical Thanksgiving vacation! We hope to visit again soon!

Hale Pono must be the most fun, relaxing and beautiful beach house in the North Shore! The ultimate.
My favorite place in the world! Overlooking beautiful views in all directions, clear views of Velzyland and Freddyland surf breaks, incredible sunsets, mountain rainforest views to the South, Hale Pono is a serene and peaceful oasis in top of the line luxury with a classy, cool, high-end surfer vibe. You can just walk right out on to the sand and stroll down the beach, or jump right in the friendly blue waters. Bamboo, hardwood, black stone tile and a big Buddha in the living room keeps you in the Zen zone and fosters the adventure and deep relaxation of a true Hawaiian experience. Right by all the world-class surfing beaches, Turtle Bay restaurants and golf, minutes from Haleiwa, and only a 5-minute walk to Ted's for the best plate lunch in Oahu, Hale Pono is the ultimate base camp for an outrageous North Shore safari. Peaceful luxury in a great location
Hale Pono is a large house located right on the beach of Oahu's North Shore. It is secluded but with direct beach access, and breakfast can be spent watching surfers take on the reef-curling sets of Velzyland. Sunset Beach and Pipeline are within walking distance (or a short drive), as is Ted's Bakery. The North Shore has a great vibe, well away from the bustle of Waikiki. Be sure to get some 'shrimp' from Fumi's roadside diner just past Turtle Bay. We easily fit 2 families into the house, which has everything supplied and is clean, comfortable, luxurious and relaxing. Only point to note is that there is no air-con (ceiling fans only), so I can't speak for how warm it would get in mid Summer as we visited in October. We would happily return, and highly recommend this accommodation if you're after something special. About an hour's drive from Honolulu airport.

Relaxing vacation
Wow! My family stayed at Hale Pono for our first vacation to Hawaii and we are thrilled to tell you to do the same. The nine of us had plenty of room to not be right on top of each other. The beach... amazing and very secluded! We cannot imagine staying anywhere else! We were close to so many great places to eat and do! Elyse was quick to respond and followed up with emails prior to our trip (which is calming when you’re from so far away!) Alix was super friendly and very helpful. You will love staying here, the master suite upstairs amazing! The kids had only 1 complaint... no air conditioning ( first world problems) .. we bought an extra fan(although they had plenty), and everyone was satisfied! The coastal breezes with the open windows made for great air and tranquil sounds... ahhh... We can not wait to return, we will absolutely be back to this beautiful home! Did I mention the master suite upstairs... be still my heart 😉.... Mahalo from Cincinnati, OH!! 💙❤️💚💜

thank you so much for this lovely review. You will be happy to know that we are installing air conditioning next month when we have a maintenance break. Next time you come you will have all the air conditioning , although, I personally prefer the ocean breezes and the lulling sound of the waves at night and the birds in the morning.

Experience a BEAUTIFUL home in a great location
This was a beautiful home on a beautiful beach on the north shore of Oahu. There was plenty of room for our two families while enjoying the view of the ocean in your backyard. The property was very clean upon our arrival. The two master suites were great for the adults and the two other rooms great for the kids both offering ample space. Kitchen area was very well appointed with everything you have in your kitchen at home. The beach is located right off the back yard and only 30 or so yards from the house. Beach was beautiful with nice sand and clear turquoise waters. Properly manager Alice Noda was awesome answering all our questions and the property owner also great at responding to all questions in a timely manner. Our families loved this vacation spot and hope to return again in the future. It’s rare to find this type of property that allows you easy access to the big city while being secluded enough to enjoy a quiet and relaxing day. Would highly recommend this as your families next vacation destination.

One of a Kind Property
If there is a better house to rent on the North Shore, I haven't found it. You really can't beat a house and property of this size right on the beach. The beach out front is great, more secluded than Sunset or Pipeline, with mellow shorebreak protected by reef and an outer swell that surfers love. We even saw a sea turtle swimming right out front! We had wonderful dinners on the lanai with the sea breeze flowing over us. With no neighbors to the south, we felt so private. The twinkling lights in the trees were the perfect touch. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were nicely appointed. Every detail in the house was well thought out and lovingly appointed. We really felt like home! We will be back for sure!

Great family vacation spot
Large home offering great privacy for large groups. Beautiful beach and views. Loved having coffee on the beach each morning! A few cautions: the house can get hot, particularly during the day. Thankfully there is a great breeze at night, which makes it more tolerable. And there were extra fans available. Beach waves were quite strong making your typical leisurely swim more challenging. But the strength seemed to vary depending on the day.

Friends getaway
We were a party of 8 friends from Sydney and we could not have had a better week. The location was fantastic with just a short stroll to the beach. The view from back deck is beautiful and the sunsets spectacular. The property was very clean, beds comfortable, kitchen with all utensils and appliances. Short drive to Foodland for supplies. The North Shore area is very scenic and interesting. Would definitely recommend.

Perfection!
This was our second time choosing Hale Pono for our family vacation and stayed two weeks this time! It was as relaxing as I remembered and it is a pure slice of heaven in the North Shore of Oahu! Our favorite part of the house is the outside shower and it is incredible to shower at night and look up to see a blanket of a million stars. The house was just right for our family if 7, and we had plenty of space to find peace and relaxation. Elyse and Alix are both wonderful and helpful with any questions that we had and I look forward to staying at beautiful Hale Pono again!

We had a wonderful time staying at Hale Pone. We spent all our time on the beautiful back patio, yard, and beach. The house has everything you need to make the stay enjoyable. Alix was fantastic and welcoming. We walked everyday to Ted's and Bonzai Bowls - yummy. We enjoyed Shark's Cove, Turtle Bay and Waimea Bay. The house is perfect for couples to have their own space yet come together to enjoy the days and evenings. Highly recommend the house.

Outstanding Property
The house was beautiful, very clean, well appointed, and larger than it appears in the pictures. The surrounding yard is large, nicely landscaped and very private. The views are stunning, the beach pristine, perfect for swimming, walks, or sitting and reading by the ocean. The beach was almost always empty and at most, had one other family in the area, even on 4th of July. We had a great view on the beach of the fireworks from Turtle Bay Resort. The location is central to all North Shore attractions. Highly recommend and we plan to return.

Amazing Ocean Getaway!
Our family of 4 had an outstanding stay at Hale Pono! Beautiful location right on the water with effectively a private beach. Kids had a great time in the water and lots of things to do nearby: tide pools, Waimea Falls, cultural center. Home was beautiful with a spectacular master suite and a separate suites for all the other bedrooms. Found the living area perfect. Great communication by the owner and care taker. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous spacious home on a secluded beach great for swimming or surfing
The house is spacious and can hold 4 couples with total privacy or a very large family. It's on a beautiful beach that doesn't ever get crowded and we have stayed there several times. Fabulous kitchen and outdoor space as well. Can't say enough great things about it !
