Very old rooms - if you’d picked the Japanese style rooms but not dirty. The food is amazing! The staff aren’t fluent in Japanese so you’ll need to bumble through check in. They’re also not very helpful. I had asked about entry to Yunessun since that was what we’d intended to do to which the personnel said no. I had to return - just to reconfirm - whether there was any promotion or tie up we could benefit from at which point the chap pulls out a whole folder with brochures related to Yunessun. Shouldn’t that have been his first port of call?

Typical ryokan, loved it. Close to transport. Breakfast and dinner was lovely, and so were staff.

I am just reporting what I saw
Let's talk about the good part first. Hotel is less than 2 mins walk from tram station. Room is good and clean as any Japanese style ryokan. The kaiseki style dinner is great and definitely fill you up. Onsen, can't complain, just make sure you bring your own towel in the room. Now the bad part, the hotel have some sort of a fishy smell odor on the hall way. I'm Asian so that didn't bother me much but for a Caucasian you will probably start wondering what's cooking in the kitchen. That said, once your room door closed you won't smell any. The hotel does need some cleaning or deodorizing the carpet. Now the really bad part, since the hotel doesn't provide in room Wi-fi service, the only location is in the lobby. While I was at the lobby, a bunch of unruly Mainland Chinese tour group were talking extremely loud and generally being obnoxious to other guests in the lobby. I was told by the hotel staffs that they are waiting for dinner. I understand this is mainly not the hotel's fault. However, since this hotel does accept large tour groups from Mainland China so do set your expectation properly when you choose this place. I am just reporting what I saw.
