My wife and I stayed here for our honeymoon and it was without a doubt one of the highlights of our trip. The staff was wonderfull from the shuttle pick up to the welcoming at the entrance of the ryokan to the day we left. We ran into some trouble with our luggage transportation service with another company and they went out of their way to call the transportation company to help us out. We are so grateful for their help. Our room was beautiful and clean. The bed was comfortable and the amenities were great. The private onsen was truly an amazing experience. The thermal water was so hot, but the bath was equipped with a system to add cold water to cool down the temperature. The public bath was great as well. The included dinner and breakfast was delicious. The whole dining experience was so unique and very pleasant. I wish I remember the name of each person that helped us during our stay so I could mention them, but all the staff without exception was amazing. We will definitely come back again!!

This was an absolute highlight of my Japan trip. If you have an opportunity to come to Hakone. This is definitely one of the top ryokans to stay at! Great service and hospitality and very close to the ropeway and cable station.

The inside of the property was very elegant; service was top-notch (Minami was a great hostess and had served our family very well); the room was very large for a family of five, complete with toiletries and stocked with beverages for the entire family! The indoor and outdoor onsen was a great amenity, and everyone in the family had enjoyed it. This hotel provided our family with a traditional Japanese ryokan experience: the Yukata for everyone in the family was so fun; the traditional Japanese dinner was over the top, featuring 9-course meal; the traditional Japanese breakfast though less formal, was equally impressive - everything was wonderful and fresh! The dining room with tatami mats, and shoji screens was very beautiful. The location itself was harder to get to - there was no shuttle service from the Shinkansen (bullet train) station, and with a family of 5, had to take 2 taxis to get to the property; the hotel concierge was able to get us 2 taxis to leave the property back to the Shinkansen station, which was very helpful. Though the inside was wonderful, there is hardly any room to walk around the property - we can see gardens outside the windows, but seems like there's no trails to walk around the property to enjoy the gardens. Overall, I would give this ryokan a 5-star, and what a great way to experience Japanese tradition!

Staying at this traditonal onsen was a great experience. Private hot spring bath with a beautiful view was amazing. The staff was incredibly accommodating and helpful. The only issue is that the dinner and breakfast were beautifully prepared traditional meals that we just did not have the palate for so we could not appreciate.

Always enjoy staying here as the service is excellent and the food is solid. Biggest draw for me though is the private onsen bath as it's always a nice temperature and the water is running constantly.

I stayed for one night in June 2024. The food was phenomenal and the staff were extremely attentive and considerate. Thank you especially to Megumi who took such great care of me. Having a private onsen with a great view was quite an experience, it was absolutely amazing. They have a free shuttle service for pick up and drop off at Gora Station (and I think other areas close by) so just let them know you need it. This was certainly one of the highlights of my trip. Thank you for having me!

This was our second time staying at Gora Hanaougi, and we had an even better time than our first trip. We opted to stay two nights this time so we could go tour Hakone after a restful night’s sleep. As always, the food and experience were phenomenal. Since we stayed two nights, the chef made sure we had different dinner options the second night so we could try new cuisines. Despite other guests staying at the facility, the staff is able to make it feel like we’re the only ones there for a private and premium experience. Megumi was also exceptional. She spoke perfect English and attended to all our needs during breakfast dinner service. She also served as a resource for helping direct our transportation needs to and from the facility. In addition to the warm hospitality, both the private and public onsens were clean and well maintained. The public facilities have the temperature adjusted already, whereas private ones can be controlled to your liking. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay here and would come again in a heartbeat!

There was a small hiccup prior to arrival since I read there would be public phones nearby to call for the shuttle service, however the shuttle driver said he only knows of public phones near Gora station (we were at the Kowakien bus stop). Ended up using a local's phone to call the hotel and they came quickly. So just an FYI for others! We had an excellent experience during our stay. The staff were attentive and helpful, especially Ayami, as we interacted with her the most. She provided wonderful service and is so kind! The food was delicious and we felt so happy and full after each meal. The room was lovely with an amazing view and many amenities. I would highly recommend two nights if possible. When it was time to leave, we were shuttled to Gora station. It was truly a magical experience and I can't wait to come back!

It was my first time staying at a Ryokan for a night with my younger brother and we thoroughly enjoyed it! The hotel staff greeted us at the entrance and made us feel welcome. They kept our luggage for us to be able to explore the area. They also spoke English well and would speak to us in English when we had trouble saying certain phrases in Japanese. They made the stay comfortable! The dinner and breakfast course was very tasty, とってもおいしい! The young lady that served us spoke to us in Japanese but would speak in English to accommodate us when needed! She also recommended a tasty sake name Denshin which I will be getting more of in the U.S. We appreciate her! I also would like to stay here again next year. 来年もここに泊まりたい

Absolutely fantastic - lovely traditional room with private onsen and complimentary drinks. Staff were incredibly polite, friendly, and helpful. Pick up from Gora station, and they were even kind enough to bring my Suica card to the station when I forgot it when I checked out. The Kaiseki meal was incredible, as was breakfast, all served in our own private dining room. The public onsen was lovely too. Expensive stay, but worth it.
