Awesome property. The owner kept the house super clean and neat. It was close to stores and she was very easy to contact regarding any questions. Definitely recommend staying here
We only needed to spend the night but will definitely rent again for a long weekend. Beautiful, rustic, comfy&cozy, plenty of towels, everything you need with an awesome host! A+++ for The Farmhouse
We enjoyed all the historic features of the house and all the little extras provided by the host. Host was responsive and everything went smoothly. We would return!
This is a fun home to stay in. Clean and warm. Very unique. Visitors should be aware all bedrooms are upstairs, and the stairs are very steep. This did not negatively affect our family, but there may be some people this would be a concern. We would definitely stay again!
It was great staying in a historic property. The area was quiet and peaceful for us. It was exactly what we were looking for. The host was great; we left a jacket at the house, and we were able to coordinate picking it up the following weekend. I much appreciated it.
The 1803 Springhouse and the owner were both delightful. We especially enjoyed her puppies and the visits from the kettle of vultures! The home is so welcoming - couldn't ask for a better location - feels like you are in the country but you are minutes from downtown, restaurants, etc. If you enjoy history, you will adore this home! We will definitely return for future visits!
Loved how everything was meticulously thought out, down to the extra tooth brushes ! Thank you for allowing us to stay in your little slice of history!
Very quaint, cozy and quiet. Close to everything but tucked just far enough back that you don’t hear noise. The personalized touches were amazing. Owner was very nice. We were able to grill dinner and enjoy a fire pit. The renovations successfully maintain the historic features but include modern conveniences.
Oasis of countryside and comfortable historic charm
I grew up in the general area and returned to stay two nights because I was visiting relatives. The house and setting are as advertised, but even better. The Spring House has all the important modern comforts and is full of thoughtful touches. Though I didn’t take advantage on this visit, Washington Co., MD and Franklin Co., PA to the north offer stunning countryside and many places to walk or hike.I am a “sandwich generation” caregiver and I rented this property to have alone time in a natural setting, outside of spending time with the family I came to visit. It was perfect for me. It’s 2.5 hours from my home in Pittsburgh, PA, and I’m already looking forward to my next visit.
Beautiful historic home !!! Restoration is complete but doesn't retract from it's charm. Beds were very comfortable. kitchen and bathroom are new and well done. living room is georgeous. Very well appointed. Very cozy and warm. The spring under the house was my favorite part. spring water literally bubbling up gently from the ground. Wee creek emerges from the house into Antietem creek. GREAT value.
It's a gem.
Hope I get back there soon...
Quiet, clean, comfortable. Yes it’s a very old house, restored, and just what I wanted. I was tracing family roots and this had the charm I was looking for
Loved this historic home located in a peaceful picturesque location yet minutes from so much to see and do. Great opportunity to expose grandkids to how things were 220 years ago and explain significance of a spring house back then. Sitting on the big porch watching birds and kids was a treat for this grandma.
Lovely historic atmosphere, cozy, clean, charming. All bedrooms are on 2nd floor, steep narrow stairs might be an issue for some. Minimal privacy, bedrooms only separated by a curtain or a sliding door. But I would come back to stay again and again.
My daughter and I stayed at the Springhouse and it was an awesome experience. The house has a ton of character and the property is beautiful even in the winter. We also enjoyed the PA Dutch market which is only a few mins down the road.
