American Motel Kansas City, Kansas
10/10 Excellent
"Everything was as expected as I have stayed at this hotel before. The only downfall is no breakfast served and I knew that already as well. Will come back again."
"If you’ve ever stayed at the location nearer the stadium & had a poor experience, do NOT let that stop you from visiting this one! While even this location’s staff members weren’t as visible as those at other hotels, they were very kind & helpful. The food at this Hotel Lotus was also fresher (with the exception of some chocolate milk which had gone bad before the expiry date, but that may be a delivery truck issue so who knows. I alerted staff & they had new cartons out the next morning w/even later expiry dates, & my kids confirmed they were fresh. It was reassuring to know they took the concern seriously & fixed it quickly.) Room was VERY clean & we loved the tall, oscillating fan as a bonus w/the A/C. This hotel may have an issue with humidity; dehumidifiers were running all along the first floor hallway (all were full when we saw them), & our swimsuits were very wet 36 hours after being hung over the shower head & curtain rod (not our usual experience after using a hotel pool), but we did not smell nor see a bit of mold or mildew to indicate an actual “problem”. Instead, it seems like they’re making an effort to stay ahead of it. The indoor pool was fun for the kids but cold (& too cold for me), & the jacuzzi was the temp we expected a pool to be. Chlorine a bit strong, too. Bummer but we still enjoyed it. Not quite a 5-star-worthy experience overall, but a solid 4! Would stay here again, but not at the other one we stayed at in June."
