Exclusive Historic Villa & Vineyard -- Private Chef, Pool, Views, Tennis, & More
Benvenuti a Villa Poggio alle Corti!
Poggio alle Corti is an exclusive private villa and vineyard with breathtaking panoramic views of Chianti’s iconic landscape of lush vineyards, olive groves, and charming medieval hilltop towns. This idyllic sanctuary has become a favorite retreat for families, A-list celebrities, and foreign dignitaries alike. The historic estate (which dates back to the 11th century) spans 14 hectares (35 acres), includes 830sqm (9,000 square feet) of living space, and perfectly blends Tuscany’s rustic charm with modern luxury.
The villa features daily maid service and an in-house chef, Marinela, who prepares gourmet three-course Italian dinners, best enjoyed al fresco overlooking the sunset. Indulge in exquisite wine and rich olive oil sourced from the villa’s own vineyard and olive groves, creating an immersive taste of the local landscape.
Strategically situated in the center of Italy, the villa serves as the ideal headquarters for exploring the very best of Italy. However, with an abundance of amenities—including a stone-lined walk-in pool, tennis court, billiard room, and countless walking trails—you may find yourself reluctant to leave.
*Note: The kitchen and five bathrooms have been fully renovated for the 2025 season (not pictured). Guests will enjoy luxurious all-marble bathrooms, a fully updated chef’s kitchen, new custom cabinetry, and new luxury bedding, linens, and pillows.
EXPERIENCE LA DOCLE VITA IN AUTHENTIC TUSCAN STYLE
Imagine yourself surrounded by ancient stone walls and breathtaking views, sipping full-bodied red wine sourced from the vineyards that surround you. The sound of church bells chiming from the charming medieval town of San Donato, visible across the valley, gently reminds you that it’s time to enjoy an authentic Italian dinner, seasoned with fresh herbs from the fragrant estate gardens.
After watching the sunset, you step out onto your private terrace to admire the starry Tuscan sky above the twinkling lights of hilltop stone-cobbled towns in the distance.
Tomorrow begins with freshly squeezed orange juice and rich espresso on the terrace, followed by a quick round of tennis and a day relaxing by the stone-lined pool overlooking the valley. The day’s activities include a game of billiards, a walk along the ancient Roman roads and wooded paths, and a visit to explore a medieval town with cobblestone streets.

11th CENTURY FORTRESS
Poggio Alle Corti, or “Courtyards on a Hill,” is a stunning 11th-century villa steeped in history. With walls and archways from the 1200s, this enchanting stone structure originally served as a farmhouse and watchtower fortress, offering breathtaking 360-degree views from its elevated position. The villa’s high ceilings, thick walls, and graceful arches hint at its legacy as a home for a significant landowner, the Bishop of Passignano.
In the 1500s, the villa was expanded, and the beautiful surrounding vineyards were likely planted during Bishop Scipione de’Ricci’s ownership in the 1700s. His coat of arms, the hedgehog, is a testament to the villa’s rich heritage. While Poggio Alle Corti has evolved over time, much of its original charm and historical essence remain intact. We invite you to experience the beauty and serenity of this remarkable place, where history breathes through every stone.
ENJOY THE ESTATE'S WINE AND OLIVE OIL
During your stay, you’ll savor our delicious Chianti Classico (DOCG) and exquisite olive oil, tasting the essence of the land.
Only 400-600 grams of grapes are harvested from each square meter of vineyard. The wine is organic and vegan certified, produced with sustainable farming.
The house wine, a Chianti Classico DOCG (90% Sangiovese, 10% Canaiolo), showcases a vibrant ruby red color and a compact body, presenting intricate layers of fruit along with the signature aroma of Sangiovese grapes and a finish that lingers. It undergoes manual harvesting at the end of September to early October, ferments in stainless steel with a maceration period of approximately 12 to 16 days, and is aged in a combination of used barrels and tanks before being bottled in April.
The Gran Selezione DOCG (100% Sangiovese) tastes of rich, layered fruit with captivating notes of bramble, forest floor, and Havana tobacco with a graceful lingering finish. Harvest begins early October, followed by stainless-steel fermentation and an extended maceration of over 20 days. The wine is then aged in a mix of new and used French oak barrels before being bottled in April.
Feel free to wander through the vineyard and take a leisurely stroll through the olive grove for a fully immersive experience. The villa also produces balsamic vinegar and grappa.
