Hotel is very nice. Room excellent, Personal friendly, good parking and nice Bar. Excellent choice and I give the Hotel a 5 Star Rating. I will be returning in September 2026.
Hotel rooms are clean and comfortable.
Good food served for the included breakfast.
Good food served in the evenings at the restaurant.
Staff helpful and friendly.
Enjoyable stay
We had a super time. The hotel was really nice and the food was good but what made it special was staff. Theywere so pleasant and helpful they really made the trip special
We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Gilvenbank Hotel and would highly recommend it. There are plenty of well lit parking spaces and it is lovely and quiet. The staff are so friendly, helpful and very cheery, including the house cleaners, waitresses, receptionists and bar staff. We stayed in room 4 on the upper floor and loved it as it's very spacious, clean and has a comfy bed. Our breakfasts and meals at night were so tasty and we loved the large portions. There is a good variety to choose from. The service all staff provide is excellent and thank you to all for this as it made our stay enjoyable and we will be back.
A lovely hotel. We stayed only one night but it was comfortable and the hotel is in a really beautiful area.
Really like the restaurant, was tempted to ask who designed it.
Room was clean, bed comfortable, pillows very average, towels great. Breakfast was fantastic and cooked fresh. Breakfast waitress was a gem. Great VFM and I will be back.
Nice room, clean and comfy. Staff friendly and decent food. TV signal intermittent. The main downside the walls are paper thin and can hear conversations in the next room, not great when neighbours chatting until past midnight and you have a 5am start..
The hotel is in a good quiet location. The room is comfortable and clean. However, it did not give the feel of being a deluxe room that we paid extra for. The main problem was being disturbed by the next room’s conversation at 23:30, due to the thin dividing walls!

Fresh, clean, comfortable. Very friendly, helpful staff.
Limited menu for a four night stay; room not fully prepared though: had to ask for cups, spoons, towels on arrival (none in room)
Door handle difficult - found door did not lock from the outside on first night, handle had to be yanked up for it to lock.
Having said the above, all issues attended to.

Weekend Scotland Stay @ Gilvenbank
We decided to spend 3 nights in Scotland and need a hotel for a trip to Edinburgh so we chose this hotel.
Location was good to be fair so no problems there , the room was clean and a decent size with TV, tea & coffee and en suite
There were a few minor issues, the walls are clearly pretty thin as every morning we could hear a person coughing/choking loudly at 6am , but you can’t choose neighbours in these places , and we were unfortunate that another neighbour had a plumbing issue which had to be sorted which was pretty noisy, our sink wouldn’t hold water for shaving , I did tell them but it didn’t get fixed , we left our towels in the shower area as directed ( if you wanted them changing) and they didn’t get changed , we had breakfast each morning and it was a bit disappointing, coffee and tea out of flask type dispensers was luke warm at best , I put oat milk in my coffee and it was rancid , the food was actually ok but not great
TV played up the whole time we were there , so no signal 90% of the time which they blamed on weather conditions.
Overall it was OK and served our purpose for the weekend, would I stay again?probably not
Being fair the property and grounds are nice, large free carpark and on site bar / restaurant and the price of the room was ok. However.... the bed was ancient and i was lying in a trench mattress crap with something sticking up under the sheet. I actually slept on top of the quilt. Curtain rail damaged, no cover on the ironing board, digital tv channels required a retune. Bathroom fan absolutely filthy, over paint on tiles, bathroom requires a face lift. Lovely balcony but doors and window externally needed a clean. I could ho on, limited breakfast options unless you want a cooked breakfast. I travel a lot in Scotland , overall dissapointed. Real share because this place could be top notch.
