Fuchsia Lodge is a freshly decorated holiday home just five minutes on foot from Glandore Pier. Set slightly above road level, it offers sea views from most rooms. You enter through a blue half-door into a small hallway with coat hooks. This leads through the utility room into the main open-plan kitchen, dining, and living area. The utility has a new washing machine and tumble dryer. The kitchen is fully equipped with new appliances – oven, dishwasher, microwave, kettle, and toaster – along with all the usual crockery, cutlery, pots, and utensils. The round dining table seats six and looks out to sea. The living area is bright, with a rocking chair and small table by the bay window – a good spot for coffee and the morning paper. There’s a large sofa for four and an armchair near the wood-burning stove. The TV is Sky Glass and there’s free Wi-Fi and 5G available. Upstairs, there are three bedrooms. On the landing is a reading chair with more sea views. The master bedroom has a super king-size bed, an ensuite, and good storage. There’s a twin bedroom on this floor, also ensuite with a shower. A few more stairs lead to the attic bedroom – open to the stairs, with no door – which has two single beds and its own ensuite, this time with a bath. Fuchsia Lodge doesn’t have a garden, but there is a front patio with furniture where you can sit and enjoy the view over Glandore Bay. A small beach is just a minute’s walk from the house, and Glandore Pier is five minutes away on foot. There’s space to park one car at the house, with more parking available on the road outside. Please note: the house is beside the road and there is no gate, so children must be supervised at all times.
Location Glandore is a small village in West Cork, about an hour’s drive from Cork Airport and roughly five hours from Dublin. It’s often described as one of Ireland’s prettiest villages. The name Glandore means “Harbour of Oaks”. Right on the water, overlooking the harbour, Glandore is popular in summer – especially with those interested in sailing and other water sports. The nearby Gulf Stream helps keep the climate mild year-round, with some unusual plants and flowers in the area. There’s no shop in Glandore itself – the nearest is a Centra in Union Hall – but the village has several good restaurants and pubs. Union Hall, a working fishing village, is just 1.5km away across the bridge, and Skibbereen is only 5 miles up the road.
