Iconic Double A Frame Island Cottage in the Muskokas

This Muskoka Island Cottage has style of its own. Nestled in the trees on the east side of Grand Island, behind the windswept pines sits this historic double A Frame. Cathedral ceiling living room, cozy wood burning fireplace in the family room and panoramic views overlooking Six Mile Lake. The main sleeping area is on the second floor. The spacious tiered deck off the living room is perfect for entertaining family and friends with an incredible multi-exposure view; sun all day and stunning sunsets. Perfect for night sky stargazing. Enjoy a swim and then relax in the sauna right at the dock where many a fish has been caught. Depth at the end of the dock is roughly nine feet and four feet at the ladder. Perfect for a good dive into the water before/after your sauna. Glide along the water with one of the canoes or kayaks and explore the many small islands that dot Six Mile Lake. Canoe twenty minutes to the Wawautosa Trading Post Marina and At the Lake Muskoka Shop where you can buy some Kawartha Lakes ice cream in a waffle cone or pick up some last minute groceries. Our cottage is situated on an island, five minutes from the Wawautosa Marina. We will pick you up at the public launch, where there is free parking, and ferry you to and from the cottage on the day of your arrival and departure. During your stay we can arrange to have a boat take you to the marina and back at a cost of $50. If you have a boating license, rentals are available at the marina. We can provide you with more information if needed. For boat owners, there is a public launch and parking next to the Wawautosa Marina. What a wonderful place! This special cottage was perfect for me and my friends for the weekend. The canoes/kayaks, beautiful water, and dockside sauna were some of the highlights. The place came stocked with everything we needed, with lots of indoor and outdoor space to relax. The views were fantastic, and we spent an evening by the firepit looking at the spectacular night sky. Some things to note are that you shouldn’t drink the tap water (the hosts provided all the filtered water we needed), and the bedrooms have curtains rather than doors. Also, it may not be the most accessible for some people, as the rocks to the house are a bit slippery, and the stairs to the bedrooms on the second floor are so steep they are more of a ladder! However, for us, these were just charming quirks and they would not stop me from coming back. Lastly, I can’t thank Susie and Brian enough for their flexibility, responsiveness, and friendliness. I highly recommend this spot, and can’t wait to return next summer!
