Well maintained hotel at the heart of GeorgeTown. Excellent location for connectivity to the mainland, via the ferries’ jetty, very close to historical sites (eg the Khoo Kongsi), local eateries and to the lively night scene. Staff are friendly and helpful (special shout out to Nick and Eline). The night staff during my stay could smile more or just offer a warm greeting. Breakfast menu is fair and could be improved with more items l(eg coffee in a pot) plus tastier cereal and sausages. Room amenities are reasonably complete only ergonomics could be slightly improved (eg more flat space to put stuff, localised electrical plug for the kettle and a movable shower head to prevent water splashing onto the wooden door. However I am very pleased there is an in-room safety box and an air conditioner that could be turned off completely when the room gets too cold. The price is reasonable for a boutique hotel, Overall I enjoyed my stay here and would strongly recommend the hotel to local and international guests.

Pros: The location and the historical building are great, the reception is very helpful and amazing! Our room to the inner courtyard was very pleasant. Cons: The towels didn't seem to be fresh. The mosque prayer nearby wakes up every morning. The breakfast is one of the worst I had: limited selection of plain rice, pasta, sausage, fried eggs, bread and jam, a fruit type that gets eaten by others fast. Dirty cups, coffee terrible, staff hardly understands English.

Great stay in this historic property, conveniently located in the heart of the George Town UNESCO district, mere steps away from the nearest phenomenal restaurant. The bathroom was OK, and our towels were a bit musty to begin with (but were replaced upon request). However, the beds were super comfortable. We appreciated the daily bottled water and the breakfasts. The morning staff was wonderfully friendly and helpful with suggestions and offers to call taxis; the afternoon/evening staff a little less so. Be aware that the proximity to the nearby Kapitan Keling Mosque meant for some loud mornings and late evenings. The broadcasts on the minaret's loud speakers went way beyond the typical two-minute call to prayer five times a day. Some hours, it seemed more like the imam was preaching long sermons over the speakers which made sleep sometimes tricky. Overall, we liked this place, and would stay here again.
