"We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 weeks at Casa do Azevinho. The house is newly renovated and very well equipped in most ways. It could use a few improvementa such as a stand or table lamp in the living room since the ceiling lights are too bright for night time use. The kitchen is well stocked but could use a few additions such as scissors, a collander, a bread knife and some mugs for people who do not drink espresso. "The hotel was decent but the reception wasn’t open 24 hours so if you’re arriving late (around 11pm or so), you’ll always have to knock and wake up whoever is in there. There was one night that I almost didn’t get into the hotel because no one was at the reception and the main door was locked. Luckily, a woman who was also staying there arrived and called his boyfriend and unlocked the door for us from the inside. There was also a small spark or kind of a little explosion in one of the sockets in my room. I went to the receptionist but no one was there and waited for more than 30 minutes. A guest who happened to be an electrician helped me out. I decided to transfer hotels after 4 nights of stay. "

Great Hotel near Peneda-Gerês Park

"Hotel São Bento is a beautiful hotel in a great location near Peneda-Gerês national park. Everyone at the hotel were very friendly, kind, and helped us in English to address our limited Portuguese vocabulary. The restaurant was delicious as well, and the nearby park has amazing viewpoints (miradouros), waterfalls (cascatas) and hiking. We would definitely come back and stay at this hotel again."
