Delightful Country house on 2 acres, very large private pool in stunning setting

We’re aware of rumours in the press about “Andalucia will have empty pools”. We can assure you that this will not be the case! We have a independent supply of collected water.

Our absolutely delightful family home is full of rustic charm with stunning views in a superb location, sleeping up to five. Ideal both for couples and/or families with children. The beautiful large pool, with a depths of 1.4 - 2.7 metres, is surrounded by terraces to provide both natural shade and full sun all day. The pool measures 12.5 x 5 metres and is fitted with underwater lighting, a great feature for all ages.

A romantic family home, “it has charm, joy and rustic beauty in abundance.’
Set in total harmony with its glorious natural surroundings, built in traditional Andalusian style, soread over two acres, flanked by almond, olive and carobtrees, cactuses flowering shrubs and palm trees. Its sheltered location offering complete peace and privacy. A natural adventure playground for children of all ages, of course at the parents responsibility.
There are plenty of deck chairs and patio furniture around the pool, as well as two hammocks strung between olive trees.
The property is perfect for lazy summer days, relaxing by the pool, snoozing in a hammock, playing with the kids, sunbathing, refreshing in the great pool, the kids will probably not want to leave it!.
The shaded terraces have plenty of spaces for “al fresco dining”!
There is a further terrace with Table Tennis, a bench, side tables and another hammock, great fun for all the family!!

The kitchen is well equipped with dishwasher, microwave, plenty of crockery and cutlery and all the extras a keen cook may need. Double doors lead onto the sheltered & shaded terrace with dining tables, and day-beds. We also have an electric grill for outdoors cooking.
There are games, toys and an interesting selection of books for guests to enjoy, making this very much a home from home.

A corridor from the kitchen leads to the very large ground floor bedroom, also airconditioned, It has a double bed and a single bed. A bed for the under fives and /or a cot are available (upon request). Glazed double doors lead directly onto the terrace.
The bathroom on the ground floor has a large walk-in shower, towel rail, toilet and sink.
Stairs lead up to the landing to the separate WC. and master bedroom.
This en-suite bedroom is air-conditioned too with a double bed and stunning views,. An alcove houses a writing desk and a small library. The en-suite bathroom is fitted with double sinks, bath/shower, bidet and a towel rail.

This property has a non smoking policy indoors.
Next to the main house is the original bread oven and beyond that is a charming small stone house. This has a small double bed and is an ideal spot for a siesta.
There is a tiny annex with a fridge/small freezer, more cutlery, crockery and glasses. All within reach as not to leave the poolside. Plenty of pool-toys are stored there too.

Finca Alboran is located just 1 km. below the stunning hilltop village of Gaucin, part of the “Serranía de Ronda”. Walking to the village is uphill, a cool beer awaiting. Easy ramble back, great option for younger kids/teenagers to make their own way back whenever they wish....

Local Area:
Finca Alboran makes an ideal base for day trips to the beautiful cities of Ronda, Jerez, Cadiz, Seville and the Atlantic Coast. All of these cities have much historical and architectural interest as well as having fabulous shopping and fine restaurants. Ronda has a famous gorge and also has the oldest Bullring in Spain.

Gaucin is a spectacular, unspoilt white village with many food shops, a chemist, bank, bars, four restaurants and a public tennis court. There is a lively art scene with the annual ‘Open Studios’ proving to be very popular with a wide audience . Throughout the year Gaucin has many fascinating fiestas, traditional Saint days and the ‘Semana-Santa’, their holy week, processions. In August Gaucin celebrates its ‘Feria’ with a fairground, dancing, a flamenco festival and their very own bull-fights.
Overlooking the village are the ruins of a Moorish castle, with incomparable views over to the Mediterranean Coast, North Africa and Gibraltar. This area is a paradise for walking, exploring, horse-riding and bird watching and just enjoying the many "watering holes".
Reading through our visitors book we're happy to see the variety of choices that were made, it being the beach/lunch in one of the beach bars., reading & swimming and not going anywhere, riding for the family, visiting ancient sights such as "Cuevas de la Pileta", Roman Ronda and of course Ronda itself with its many extraordinary sites.

We do have few reviews on VRBO. Our property is mostly let through Rustic Blue and to repeat visitors resulting in 70% of our bookings. In fact, no bookings were from VRBO in 2023, as we were booked very early on by Rustic Blue an returning visitors.

Marvelous house, perfect location
We had a most wonderful stay at Finca Alboran. The place has stunning views and a beautiful garden with ample spots to hang out and relax. The house is super comfortable, spotlessly clean, and beautifully decorated. The hosts are marvelous and are always there to help. Gaucin is a really lovely village and it's easy to get around. There are restaurants and plenty of shops to get groceries. We could not have had a more beautiful and relaxing holiday and highly recommend Alice and Jim's place.

The most beautiful setting and home
We had a week in Finca Alboran, from the moment we arrived we knew it would be hard to leave. The house and gardens are stunning, with beautiful views all around you. It has all been so well designed and considered, and made for a very comfortable holiday home. The bedrooms are very large and comfortable, with a spacious living area downstairs too. The four of us were all very comfortable. We cooked a lot, the kitchen was well equipped and a pleasure to cook in. There’s a lovely big walk in shower downstairs and a large en-suite upstairs. There is plenty to do in the region, but we were more than happy to relax at the house and pop into Gaucin. We did venture out, but my best memories of the week are the times we spent together as a family in the house. The area outside the kitchen is shaded and relaxing, a lovely spot to eat but also to read, and nap… The pool is a fantastic size, deep enough to dive and swim lengths. Lots of places to explore and seating areas to enjoy the views of the mountains (or have a nap). The table tennis was the most picturesque we have played, loved our evening tournaments as the sun set. Alice and Jim are perfect hosts, always available with local advice and information about the home. It was lovely to meet them, they are very considerate and did everything they could to ensure we had a wonderful week. They are respectful of your space, whilst being very accessible, an impressive balance. Also have to mention the books, so many books to read! Huge variety and kept us all happy, took my books home unread, other people’s books are more interesting. Honestly, one of the best weeks we have had together as a family. Thank you Alice and Jim for opening up your home, it’s very special indeed.

Holiday Home Review
Wonderful house, pretty, traditional and authentic but spacious and had all mod cons you could wish for. The pool was a treat, deep enough for diving, amazing views and lovely shaded areas to sit and relax. Alice and Jim were the perfect hosts, providing shopping for us as we arrived late, and meeting us the following day with lots of helpful information about the area. Honestly couldn’t have asked for more, we shall definitely be back! Xx

A beautiful retreat in the mountains
My family loved our week at this lovely house in the beautiful countryside just outside Gaucin. Jim and Alice were the perfect hosts, and we relished every moment of our stay. The views from the house are just amazing, and we particularly loved our morning coffees by the pool gazing out at the mountains. The children also enjoyed exploring the beautifully landscaped and terraced gardens and the quiet tracks outside the house. Although it feels remote, the house is actually not very far from a whole range of interesting places, and we filled our days with horse riding, wild swimming in local rivers, trips to Ronda, Gaucin and other white villages for fantastic meals and a grudging final day visit to the beach. A very memorable week for us, and we hope to be back again some day soon.

Idyllic setting to enjoy Gaucin!
We have spent many holidays in Gaucin when our children were young and this time we returned to introduce some friends to the area. Predictably they also fell in love with Gaucin. Finca Alboran is absolutely beautiful and the best equipped rental we have been to. We enjoyed our chats with Rafa and Rosario, who keep everything so well, and it was good to meet Jim on the first day, who made us very welcome. It was our first time staying outside the village and we appreciated the tranquillity - no mopeds waking us up! Even the walk back up to Gaucin to eat was fine - just gave us a better appetite. It was nice to note that in the 10 years since our last visit the essential character of Gaucin has not changed despite the increase in restaurants and shops. It remains a very special place and many thanks to Jim and Alice for sharing their home with us. We very much hope to return one day.

Great Location and well appointed
We really enjoyed our stay. The location was fantastic, very private and the pool big enough to swim in (not always the case). There are lots of places to sit and enjoy the views which are all around. The house was very well appointed with everything you need. It's only just within walking distance from the village by day, and only if you are feeling energetic as it's down a very steep dirt track. A more roundabout but hard surface access for cars is much better. I would have no hesitation in recommending this property.
