This was our first visit to Flood’s Cove. It was a 2 week, post season stay in mid-October. We were looking for stillness, quiet, comfort and natural beauty. We found all of this and more in great abundance. The “Westwind” though simple and pristine in its design is new, open, airy, well-lit and very comfortable.
We found the two chairs which swivel and rock, the sofa which faces the water, the wrap-around porch and the queen bed in the main level bedroom, to be inviting and relaxing.
The days were significantly cooler and autumn colors stunning. The water, sky, light, rocky texture and easy motion of tides in the Cove provided ever changing allure and appeal. “Pa’s Island” is a thrilling walk at low tide.
Towards the end of our stay, a major nor’easter type storm came through, taking down trees and knocking out power for the entire town for over a day. Chuck & John, our hosts, were attentive, supportive and helped transform the stormy experience into one of the highlights of our visit.
The town of Friendship is rooted in local lobstering activity, historic architecture and minimal intrusion of the ever encroaching tourist trade.
Our two weeks at the Westwind, in Flood’s Cove, Friendship will be treasured for a lifetime.
