My wife wanted to get away over the 1st couple of days of her Thanksgiving break from teaching, and we had long been trying to find time to get down to Fredericksburg to see the National Museum of the Pacific War, so I started looking for a place to stay in the area back in early September. Unfortunately, even then, normal hotels were booked solid or overpriced for their amenities. I started looking on AirBNB and VRBO and found the Distant Views property and decided to reserve it. It was a great choice, and my wife was thrilled with it. It is quiet, private, and well-equipped for a couple of days of relaxation away from our busy lives, but still close enough to town that we could come and go and not feel like we were spending our trip driving around. There is a large herd of deer that live in the nearby woods and come out periodically. The owners provide food that you can give to the deer (either by a zipline or by throwing it off the balcony) and seeing them up close was my wife's favorite part of the trip. Overall, this was a great couple of days away from our normal hectic schedules and we enjoyed the cabin.
