"The rooms were clean and cozy. Very comfortable beds, and the way the bunks are designed it feels like you’re in your own private pod! Unfortunately, I did not catch the name of the owner, but he gave our group a warm welcome, telling stories of the property’s history and giving recommendations of things to do in the area. The kitchen was large with multiple cooking stations and plenty of seating (also very clean and up to date with all the necessary appliances, pots, pans, dishes etc.). Bathrooms were clean and modern. The whole property was gorgeous, very new building, peaceful, it was a truly restful atmosphere. The view from our window was beautiful and we saw northern lights from the property. About 30-40 min it es outside Vik it was a good midpoint spot for seeing more of the southwest and not go too far from Reykjavík. Would absolutely stay there again next time we’re in Iceland. One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in!"
"Be warned: you CANNOT get to this hotel with your own vehicle! You're required to buy a separate bus ticket in order to get to the hotel.
We weren't told until a couple weeks before our stay that a bus was required to reach the property. We were stunned to find that bus tickets for our family of four were almost TWICE as expensive as the $285 room we booked for a single night.
The property's website told us we would be reimbursed only 80% of the cost. We were a little disappointed, but were content that we were able to cancel the reservation. We contacted the property via email. To our surprise, they told us we would lose the entire cost of the booking.
Ultimately, we booked elsewhere and disputed the charge with our credit card company. They ruled in our favor and we received a credit for the full cost of the hotel room."
"Restaurant food was excellent, though limited in selection. Arctic char and lamb were superb. This hotel is a sleeping place in preparation for the incredible Landmannalaugur mountain and hiking area, both well worth Icelandic prices!"
