"Clean room although it smelt slightly strange. I think it may have been a wood smell. The pool and was beautiful set amongst the ruins of the castle. Staff were superb and breakfast was excellent. Parking on site was so close. Maybe the dining areas felt slightly dated but it is a beautiful setting for a hotel. While there you should visit the crypt to learn the history of the place ."

"Everything from checking in to checking out was overall a great holiday,the staff were pleasant and very helpful nothing was too much for them. The hotel owner ignes was fantastic and even gave us a couple of lifts to were we were going for the day. Highly recommend it"

"Heaven on earth. Absolutely unique and amazing stay. From the welcome sightings of the stork nests to the view of beautiful horses calmly standing by the lake I fell in love with the environment. Our check in was fun and very enjoyable. Perhaps the welcome wine glass made the experience that more enjoyable. Great friendly staff that gave a great overview of what the Herdade had to offer. Regret only spending one night but we can’t wait to go back and take full advantage of all that we missed this time. We stayed in the “Casa de preda” and had our own private little pool and unobstructed view of the wineries and landscape. The little details of the embroidered linens with the Herdade logo and all the food and drinks that welcomed us in our beautiful contemporary house was superb. The amenities were top notch and all the Baobab candles made the place smell so good. The music playing in the background when we arrived to the room so cool. So all senses were taken care of and an instant calm and relaxation ensued. The restaurant was awesome as well. The food and wine were outstanding. The “egg rice pudding” was the most beautiful and delicious dessert I have ever had. Love the family story and I got the coffee table book of “Malhadinha , The heart of Alentejo” on display in my living room in California to reminisce of such wonderful and magical place. Having been born in Alentejo , this Herdade encompasses the spirit and essence of this cultural rich area in Portugal."

"Overall, the hotel was lovely. The room was clean and had everything we needed, although if you need an iron you need to request the whole laundry service. The staff were so helpful and really friendly, nothing was too much trouble. It is in a quiet area near the river but hard to walk anywhere from it. Only a short drive to Alcacer do Sal. The pool needed cleaning along the bottom and there was a long trail of ants along the corridor until our final night. The breakfast was delicious, a selection of cooked food, pastries, fruit, cold meat and cereals although most days there were a couple of bits missing, not that this mattered too much. Dinner in the evening was superb. Everything cooked to perfection and staff were very attentive. I would be happy to stay here again but maybe better for short stays"

From the moment we arrived and were greeted by staff and treated to a glass of their lovely wine we knew we were going to enjoy our stay. The rooms are modern and beautiful designed and decorated. You experience the sense of calm created by the beautiful landscape and the architecture of the hotel. The staff are excellent and the service is 5-star. The restaurant creates the perfect ambiance for dining and the food is creative and beautifully prepared and presented. Would like to thank Andreia, Marta, Bruma and Sofia for making our stay a memorable one. Would also like to thank the chef and his staff for our wonderful dining experiences. We look forward to our next stay. "
