The waterside town of Falmouth has a historic deep-water harbour, prestigious marinas along with a host of restaurants, café, boutique shops and art galleries. Falmouth Art Gallery is one of the best in Cornwall. From the Prince of Wales Pier, you can take a boat trip along the River Fal, or Carrick Waters to a smuggler’s cottage, or hop on the ferry to St Mawes and visit the castle there. The Maritime Museum is great for children and adults alike with its hands-on approach. Pendennis Castle has defended Cornwall since Tudor times, and you can enjoy the breath-taking views out to sea. The area has many beautiful sub-tropical gardens including Trebah, Glendurgan and Trelissick. Truro, Cornwall’s capital city is only a short drive away.
