「We booked this at the last minute as we were travelling up to the Scottish borders and wanted to break the journey due to the extreme heat. We arrived very late (about 11pm) but we had called the hotel in advance and one of the staff agreed to wait for us. When we did arrive we were greeted with a very warm welcome. Our one regret is that we didn't have time to make use of the observatory (yes you read that right!) All staff very friendly and helpful and loved the breakfast」

「This was a good stop-over hotel. It's not conventional - just a few rooms but a well-stocked help-yourself breakfast room, and it worked well for one night and the owner, Julia, was lovely and helpful. The room was relatively small - but well appointed and tea/coffee options and bathroom toiletries were all good. It was really warm in the room which was even before the heatwave, and the blackout curtains really needed to be closed for privacy as there is no blind/net curtain which did stop...

Evening meal was nice, 10% surcharge on you bill! Wine expenses! Breakfast was so so. Waited a long time for someone to come to the checkin fest on arrival and departure. Probably would try an alternative hotel 」

「A beautiful cottage in a secluded area with lovely views of surrounding hills and forest. The photos dont do it justice, it is much bigger in reality. It is very well equipped, and beds very comfortable with spotless linen. Even in cold weather, the cottage has more than enough radiators and a very efficient log burner to keep you warm. 「This was a charming place to stay. There were sheep in the field outside our window. There were cookies and tea things in our room. There was a nice common room/library with lots of maps and guide books. We had a delicious full Scottish breakfast in the morning. We'd love to stay there again!」

「Despite the wet and windy conditions we really enjoyed our stay and managed to get around to our favourite spots. Steve & Julie provided a lovely starter pack to see us over the first 24 hours. Cottage is superb, with all the amenities you would expect at home. Would recommend it as a base to tour the countryside.」
