Cottage on the Pond

Situated on the edge of a pond this lovely quiet cottage is the perfect place to relax and enjoy the afternoon sun from the deck after a day of exploring in the Buller area. There is also a lovely track around the property.
This 2 bedroom cottage is in a lovely rural location away from the road, no early morning traffic just bird song.
Large kitchen equipped with pantry staples(coffee,tea,salt,pepper,oil)
Linen and towels are supplied.

Quiet location and the host promptly sorted out a lack of water supply on arrival. Overall, happy with the accommodation except for the horrible polyester bed linen and lumpy polyester-filled pillows which were nasty and sweaty and impossible to use: after a sleepless first night the local bedding shop in Westport came up trumps with a cheap cotton bed linen set and wool pillows. From then on the bed was very comfortable. Otherwise everything was as expected. Plenty of do and see in the local area.

Welcomed with a bottle of wine and fresh bread and cheese..also fruit in fruit bowl.An enjoyable 3 nights for 4 ..(2 of whom were o/seas guests.)Pillows could do with updating as of poor quality .An enjoyable time in a lovely setting and a great base for seeing the West Coast.

The accommodation was easy to find welcoming with wine, bread and cheese. It was very clean. There is a lot to do in the area. We biked the Kawatiri Trail, had a meal out in Westport and a pie at Waimangaroa.The accommodation was very relaxing, read a novel. Fred the eel, the weka and pukeko whanau kept us entertained.

Secluded and scenic

It was a great little getaway, and we could imagine in summer it would be even nicer being able to enjoy the outdoor picnic spots by the pond. We arrived late in the day and were quite peckish, so enjoying a beautiful fresh loaf of bread, butter and cheese that greeted us when we arrived was lovely - along with a bottle of wine for later and a ginger beer for our young one. Even though we came in winter, the West Coast scenery and atmosphere never disappoints, and the house was lovely and cosey all through the night. It was also great to feed Frank the eel each morning - we were sad to say bye to him too!

What a lovely spot. House is warm and cosy. The wine, cheese, butter and loaf a beautiful touch. We liked feeding Frankie the eel, our daughter was almost hand feeding her. We enjoyed our stay thank you and would highly recommended this holiday home.

Weekend in the West

Two nights family stay with 7yo daughter. Ideally placed just out of Westport with quiet setting and crystal clear night skies. We hit the weather jackpot able to walk around the property and spend some time on the sunny deck. Clean warm house and very generous hosts. Would highly recommend.

The cottage is in a very nice place. It is quiet and in the country. We loved the space and the amenities. There were a few things that needed to be cleaned a bit better. It was nice to see the eels, especially the big one "Frank" in the pond near the cottage.

Place quiet and peaceful...cottage surrounded by nature with mountain views. Just 10 mins from city...hostess Marie was prompt in replying. As a sweet gesture she left us cheese, crackers and sweet red apples.

A beautiful property in a very lovely location

A really beautiful, well maintained property. Certainly one of the best we've rented in many years. Generously equipped with a number of welcoming items as we arrived. Friendly host.Friendly eel as well.

Perfect accommodation in a lovely setting

The cottage was perfect for our two night stay in Westport. It had everything we needed and was very comfortable. Just a short drive to town it was in a quiet rural location. We will definitely stay here again if we return to the region and happuly recommend it to anyone wanting well presented accommodation in a great location.

The best place ever for 5 years plus kids!

This cottage was awesome! Delicious bread, wine & butter upon arrival, a pond that was hours of entertainment for our 5 & 7 year old with a resident eel, 3 outdoor areas around the private pond. The cottage was cosy & super clean. Idyllic surroundings, so quiet & peaceful!

Two night delightful stay

Lovely, well equipped bach. Beds are very comfortable. The bach has a central geographical location, good for day trips. Really like the lake and feeding Frank the eel. The BBQ is a nice area to have a meal especially as the Weka joins you. Thank you to the owners for the surprise food and drink items which we enjoyed. This is our second time at the bach and we definitely recommend staying

Extras provided were lovely

Owner left some bread, cheese, butter, and bubbly, which were an unexpected treat. The deck, grill area, and pond made for a beautiful setting. A few small things in the house needed attention, but all was clean and the layout of the place was wonderful.
