Our family stayed a week at this wonderful home that’s close to the entrance to Rocky Mountain National Park. The home is spacious and features stunning views of Long’s Peak. The rooms are big, the kitchen is well-equipped for cooking family meals, the deck is great. Everything was clean and worked well. The home owners communicated clearly and were very nice to deal with. Our family would stay again in a heartbeat. We were comfortable and happy. The only sad part was having to leave!
The house was big enough & had everything you could think of to enjoy a week stay. Easy to get to & quite neighborhood just love our stay thank you very much!!!!
Stunning views and comfortable accommodations. The location is perfect for popping in and out of RMNP. Host is very responsive to questions as we planned our visit.
We really enjoyed our stay. The location is great. Waking up every morning and looking at the amazing view of the mountains from the deck was so peaceful and true blessing.
Perfect location! Views were beautiful! House was plenty big. It is very dated, but everything works. Having to take out the garbage when we departed and having to clean AND put all the dishes away is frustrating. We paid for cleaning!! That’s all part of cleaning.
It was great as was when I stayed I think in 2022 it’s very clean, the view is beautiful we really enjoyed staying there and hope to be able to come again.
Place was in a beautiful location!! Saw elk/deer in our yard, mountain lion just down the street while we were there. Will be coming back and actually talked about getting our own place there!!
My friends and I had an amazing time at Estes Park, and it is largely thanks to the hosts that were kind enough to let us stay at this property. The recommendations for food and hiking were the most useful to us throughout the week as visitors! The grill was used twice to make burgers, and the views were absolutely stunning. While hanging out on the deck, we were able to see mule deer and elk close to the house! We played chess and checkers almost every night since they have a little wall of games and puzzles. If I ever visit Estes Park again, I hope this property is available!
Nice house on a hill with great view of mountains. Elk roam the area and we saw a large bull right off our porch. The house is older but is well maintained. The 6 of us had no issues with it and were pleased with it. The beds were comfortable and the kitchen adequately stocked with pots and plates etc.
The property is as described. However, if you are looking for something "fancy." Then keep scrolling. This place is for those who want to truly experience the RMNP. Its a quaint family cabin. PERFECT for my wife and I. Our party was only two, but the house will accommodate more. Very comfortable living room with large windows overlooking the park. When I say overlooking the park, I mean your view shed is bookended with The Twin Sisters peak on the left and Deer Mountain to the right. In the center, Longs Peak, in all its glory. You do see other houses but you are not right on top of each other as the lot is large. On the property you will see deer, elk, a billon chipmunks, maybe a bear, humming bird, birds that will land on your hand...and bobcats. My wife and I saw (on property) all but the bear.We will definitely stay here again!
House on the Rocks was inviting and cozy. It provided all the amenities that we were looking for a Christmas/Graduation celebration. The hosts were so kind, had great communication, and check-in, and check-out were easy. The views were amazing, and the house is in a convenient location. we made many wonderful memories while staying here!
The property was very nice in a quiet location. The owners were very thorough with instructions . Plenty of room for us and great proximity to Rocky Mountain national park! Plenty of towels and spices in the cabinets . Loved the pin ball game !
We really enjoyed our stay. We had everything we needed to cook meals, it was so nice to have a good gathering space for family, the proximity to the Rocky Mountain National Park was fantastic, and downtown Estes Park was great too. The mountain views were phenomenal and the wildlife was really fun to watch. It was a bit difficult to cool the house down on hot days, but I think we picked a really hot week to go.
Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. Will recommend to friends and family.
Everything was like the comfort of home!
We were overly excited with the herd of Elk that just hung around the neighborhood our week stay. We also got our wish come true… we got a foot of SNOW! WOW the Mountains in their most beautiful form! What a wonderful stay we had!
This was our second stay at the "On the Rocks" house in Estes Park. I am hoping for a third! Beautiful views of the mountains, snow and wildlife, cozy fireplace and a well appointed kitchen. On of my favorite places! We noticed a lot of upgrades to the house - new, comfy mattresses, kitchen and bath faucets and more cleaning (much appreciated!) had been done since our initial visit. We hosted family and friends, and all were extremely complimentary of the house and mattresses! Aaron and Ed are very accommodating! Easily reachable. The location of the house is very convenient to the lovely downtown area, fabulous restaurants and an easy drive to Denver international airport. We are always saddened to depart this bit of heaven on earth.
I look for a house with a Longs Peak view and this home was great with it’s fabulously big deck.
Our host reminded us to lock the top on the trashcan because neighbors said there had been bears in the neighborhood.
To our delight, 3 days later there were 2 juvenile bears wrestling in the yard and crossing the driveway. The first sighting ever in Estes Park, and although it was early in the season we saw and heard a bull elk bugling which we love.
I haven’t mentioned that the home was perfect for our family. The 4 bedrooms gave us privacy but also large gathering spaces. A very clean and well kept home. We thoroughly enjoyed your home and our stay!
Thank you for hosting us.
This was a beautiful and clean house. The views were amazing - the photos online don't do it justice. Really incredible. We did a lot of long hikes starting early in the morning. Then we returned to the house and relaxed and rested weary feet in the afternoons watching the "summer monsoons" pass across the peaks which was pretty magical. The location was perfect - just minutes from one of the park entrance station which made it easier on those early morning "timed entry" passes. There is a small grocery store just down the hill too, so it was easy to pick up supplies and cook our own meals and buy hiking food for our daypacks. We loved this place and would definitely recommend it. Communication with the owners was very clear and easy.
I think the deck with a view of Long's Peak did it for me but the whole property and house are fantastic. About a mile from the park entrance and just a short drive to downtown Estes. House has neighbors but not close and you feel secluded. Lots of books, movies to watch (kids watched several movies), games. I can't begin to tell you how great it was. Any questions I had Aaron answered immediately. We would all (10 of us, me, my kids and 5 grandkids - almost 2, 8, 9 and 10 year olds) would all stay again and recommend it highly. The dishwasher, washer & dryer, comfy furniture, recommendations for food (mmm Poppy's pizza), hikes.... Thanks, Aaron & family!
Aaron, Heidi, and Ed were great hosts and easy to work with. The check-in process was a breeze, the location of the house was tremendous, and the views of the Rocky Mountains were great from sunrise to sundown. The house was spacious, easily able to accommodate our party of 5, and the grill made for some great afternoon grilling after a long day of hiking. The only thing we were concerned about was the lack of air conditioning but by strategically opening the windows to get a cool breeze and closing the shades during the hottest parts of the day we were able to cool down the house to our liking. Thanks, Aaron, Heidi, and Ed for letting our group use their house to explore Colorado and have a memorable vacation!
The "On The Rocks" estate is a cabin built in the 90s, and it certainly looks the part. But don't let that deter you! This property is wonderfully clean, charmingly decorated, and spacey enough to house a small army. This cabin has a perfect view of the mountains toward the South Side of the park, and you'll see plenty of wildlife wandering through the yard during your stay. It's a breezy 5 minute drive from the cabin to the park entrance. The hosts are very friendly and communicative - we really appreciated all of their helpful tips, activity suggestions, and comprehensive cabin instructions! The heating and cooling are a little fickle, as the air is released via baseboard radiators that are scattered around the cabin, but once we got used to it, we were able to properly control the temperature. I highly recommend!
The house was well furnished. The pinball machine was very popular with us and guests! (.50/game or 5 games for $2.00) Kitchen was outfitted nicely to prepare meals. The gas grill was a bonus. Plenty of room for guests to stay comfortably. The wood burning fireplace was so cozy. We ordered some wood to be delivered and had a fire most evenings. The views from the deck and living room were specular! We had 3 to 4 inches of snow three times. We never tired of the views! Enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and driving all around Estes Park. We were thrilled to see so much wildlife! A lot of mule deer, elk and a bobcat hunting mice on a couple of occasions. Our stay was a month long and we hated to leave. The Acela's were always prompt to address any questions. We would definitely like to return!
