The room was basic but it had almost everything we needed. Cons: the wifi didn’t work very well, the bathroom was basic, and the fridge didn’t work. Pros: the bed was comfortable, the property was quiet but still conveniently located, and we got to watch monkeys swinging around in the trees outside. The host of the property was lovely and he served up a great breakfast each morning. Overall I did enjoy staying at this place.

We loved the beauty of this place. Everyone was friendly and beyond helpful. I took photos from my balcony of a family of deer. it was incredible. Staff also helped us book a once in a lifetime safari. I definitely recommend this stay.

This year, I have slept on multiple beds in multiple countries. Colombia, Guatemala, Belize, Mexico, France, Spain, Portugal, Italy, Jordan, Sri Lanka, and Ella Green Cottages had the best mattress I've had all year. My first night at Ella Green Cottages was literally the best night of sleep that I had in months. Also, whenever I needed anything, the employees immediately stopped doing whatever they were doing and saw to my needs. Best customer service I experienced in the country.

Serene and convenient

We loved our stay at Ella Green Cottages. Watching all the birds and wildlife from our balcony was a lovely experience. It's so peaceful given it's location so near the main road. There is a steep climb to get to the hotel, but it wasn't an issue for us and worth it for the quiet location. The bedroom was clean and we didn't see a single bug in there for our whole stay, even with the jungle-side location.

A lovely host at the property and a lovely location. The wildlife here is amazing and it was fun to see the monkeys and chipmunks. Unfortunately the room smelt damp, musty and so old. The feel was not clean for sleeping BuT the bathroom was nicely tiled and felt cleaner. we did a one night stay so just made the best of it. For location and wildlife this is great. We understand the mountain area is a damp environment and that we booked last minute so it was fine for that reason- I would not dismiss staying here but just bear in mind that it is basic and go for the joy of the wildlife- take mosquito spray- and some scented candle things-!! Loved the birds we saw off the balcony.

Not good value. You can get better for the price.

It was ok. Yet the owner was building a new hotel below my balcony, so it was a good thing both days I was out exploring the sites or a daytrip all day. It also had internet that was never good enough for some things but ok for email, etc. Yet this died on my second night. I was there for 2 nights and they didn't replace my water or tea. Yet probably would have, had I asked. Tepid water in a fairly cold town in the mountains and the scratchiest towels ever. I just expected a bit more compared to others for the price.

Room really good size with very big bed and private bathroom. Very cool inside, so more than comfortable for sleep without fan or aircon. The floor needed a bit more of a clean / sweep in the room but the bathroom was really clean.There were two sealed bottles of water which was really useful. Room had a private balcony looking out to trees - there were birds and chipmunks around you could watch. Slept fairly well but there would be basey music playing at odd times - maybe from other hotels and there is construction around Ella so you will hear that in the day. Bit of an odd smell in the room which I think was probably just moisture in the bathroom or possibly bug spray, but I must say there were no issues with bugs or mosquitos and I usually get eaten alive. It would have been helpful to be shown around - it took me a while to figure out the light switches and which one was for the electric shower, plus I left with still no idea if there were any communal areas. I wasn’t aware you could book breakfast - worth noting as a lot of cafes don’t open until 9 (Barista is open early and some others like Kiri Kopi open at 7.30am) and if doing a sunrise hike you may need to prepare food for yourself or see if the hotel can accommodate you that early. When you arrive in Ella get a Tuk tuk - it’s a VERY steep walk with a large rucksack or suitcases. You can walk down to town easily from the hotel in 5 mins but it’s quite dark on the way back - a bit scary alone.

This room was in the midst of jungle. From the balcony we looked out and up to the trees. A monkey ate his breakfast on the next balcony over. It was in the midst of nature while being in town.

In the tree canopy with the monkeys

Ella green cottages is positioned right in the tree canopy and you can see monkey families coming to visit in the morning. The room was comfortable and clean and the shower got hot. We were given a generous and tasty breakfast and got good tips on walking to Ella rock in the morning. When we left we got outlet breakfast to go. Lovely place

Monkey's and birds were great...room was average. Could stand to clean construction debris from below the room. Beautiful environment around Ella...waaaay over developed! Alot of price gouging going on. I have no desire to return there. Thailand or Cambodia are much better deals from my experiences over the years.

The water pressure wasn't the best and it took a while till they made the internet work again but afterwards no complaints about the internet.The room and shower are fairly simple, I think it's overpriced for what you get but all in all I enjoyed the stay especially the breakfast on the balcony (good value!) with the monkeys. If you don't like wildlife, don't go there, though. Due to cracks in the roof and between the roof and the wall, we had two four legged visitors (gecko, mouse), which were harmless and stayed far away from us near the roof.

Ella green är ett fantastiskt litet ställe dit du tar dig efter en liten uppförsbacke. Vi hade utsikt över skogen med mycket fåglar och några apor. Personalen var mycket hjälpsam och bjöd på en god frukost med allt för mycket mat. 10 minuters promenad var vi nere i centrum med affärer restauranger vi stannade 2 nätter och är mycket nöjda med tanke på priset.

De dejligste store altaner, m smukke blomster og bekvemme møbler til at slappe af. Udsigt til jungle, hvor aber, egern og et væld af fugle kunne observeres. Værten var utrolig sød og hjælpsom, bl.a både m vasketøj og tuk tuk bestilling. Der blev serveret rigtig lækker og rigelig morgenmad på altanen, på det tidspunkt der passede gæsterne bedst.
