Located in Elgin, this farm stay is in a rural area. Brown's Canyon Ranch and Our Lady of the Sierras Shrine are local landmarks, and some of the area's activities can be experienced at Sonoita Vineyards and Lightning Ridge Cellars.   • When in SouthWest Arizona be sure to visit the wine region. There are about 18 different wine estates in Sonoita/Elgin wine region. The wine estates are nothing like California, South Africa or Europe, but it is interesting to know that vines can grow in these harsh weather conditions and rocky terrain. We tried three Estates and we would only recommend the oldest vineyard in the area, Sonoita Vineyards. They have some interesting wines and we would rate them fair to good especially for being in AZ. The main building does not have that much charm like wine estates in Stellenbosch or Franschhoek, but the surrounding views are beautiful. Locals have mentioned that Hops & Vines is another estate worth trying.

just what i needed

The solitude, cooler temps, & quiet were just what I was looking for. Space to unplug w/my kids before they leave the nest which is approaching WAY to quickly! Loved waking to the dawn bird song alarms (thanks Beswick's wren).

Quiet mountain home

We loved this property. 2 adults, 16, 15, and 2 12 year olds. Plenty of room to spread out, each with their own bed. Plenty of wild animals to see on the way to and from and the view was spectacular. Loved that there wasn’t really cell service and the kids could disconnect and enjoy nature. Would absolutely stay again.

It was all about the birds!

After over 2 weeks staying here we can honestly say - This is such a cozy house to relax after a long day exploring Patagonia, Tubac, Bisbee, Sierra Vista, and many of the area parks. Perfectly situated in the middle of the AZ wine country and an easy drive in either direction to explore all the history of the southwest. The area has epic bird watching even in January, and we purchased a few feeders and I spent many afternoons watching Annes Hummingbirds, Gila Woodpeckers, Curve-bill Thrasher (I could go on) without even leaving the yard. The place is pretty remote so we ate in most nights with zero regret as we cooked on the grill and watched the amazing sunsets. When we did eat out we loved the local steak place in Elgin and had a great dinner in Tubac as well as Patagonia. We loved our stay! I could go on and on.

Super excellent property with room to park vehicles, trailers, dogs, and comfortably accommodate 8 adults. I would highly recommend this property. It was a great place to stay.

Quiet and remote

We had a great stay in Lyle Canyon. The house is eclectic and far out, down a dirt road, by national Forest property. Due to the seclusion, the internet/wi-fi was occasionally spotty (but adequate)so keep that in mind if you plan on remote work . The host was very responsive to questions. The yard is fenced and was great for our dogs. We ate in most nights as it is a long way into town. Visit the local meat market in town.
