"We had a truly wonderful and peaceful stay at this cabin. The location is incredibly pristine — deep in the woods, quiet, and perfect for a relaxing retreat. The cabin itself was very comfortable, with a well-equipped kitchen and a clean, inviting hot tub/jacuzzi. We even saw deer nearby, which added to the charm.The nearby lake is beautiful, with crystal-clear water. We loved that it was private and had free access to canoes and kayaks. There’s also a connected lake that felt even more secluded and serene — absolutely stunning.We also took a short 15-minute drive to a nearby beach, which was another highlight of the trip. It was quiet, peaceful, and not crowded at all — the perfect spot to unwind and enjoy the natural surroundings.The cabin owner was extremely helpful and kind. During a short power outage (4–5hr), they provided lights and even gave us a discount for a pontoon ride as a thoughtful gesture. We took the opportunity to enjoy the silence and do some meditation, which made our experience even more special.One of the most remarkable moments was after our stay — we realized we had accidentally left behind a gold chain valued at over 2,000. We contacted the owner, and to our relief and gratitude, she found it and generously shipped it back to us without hesitation. That level of honesty and care is rare and deeply appreciated.This cabin is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet, nature-filled getaway with a trustworthy and kind host. Highly recommended!"

"We had the most amazing trip. The fishing was great. Went swimming. Made campfires went to the Antler Store for ice cream. The lake is beautiful. The cabin is beautiful with plenty of room for our family of four and dog. Plenty of area for the dog to run around and play and swim. We can’t say enough good things about Rachel she was so helpful and quick to respond to the many questions we had. The Refuge at North Padre is an awesome place and we can’t wait to come back next summer. Just a wonderful place. "

"It is a nice rustic cabin to stay in, but it has the amenities you need, including good Wi-Fi - as long as a teenager doesn't unplug the router to plug in a fan. We used it as a base camp to fish area lakes, but it would be a good place to take a smaller outdoor oriented family. There's a lot of yard and a really nice lake with very nice sandy bottom and relatively good fishing."

"Kyle’s property is beautiful. Home was well stocked, clean and made for a perfect vacation. The large deck has wonderful lakefront views and spot for relaxing. The gym was a great feature for those who want to stay active and for fun family games of HORSE. Kyle was great in responding promptly through the reservation process and the neighbors are very friendly. The Side Lake Store is perfect for those things you may have forgotten, they are very friendly. We even caught a book signing by a local author and a wine tasting at the store. Highly recommend if you are looking for a beautiful lake getaway! "

"Not only is this cabin beautifully decorated, it is perfectly cleaned. Spotless, really. And entirely dog friend, with an open floor plan and nothing extra laying around for a dog to get into. The view is lovely, too! "

"Beautiful historic log cabin with all the amenities you would want. The grounds are well kept and very scenic. The area is very peaceful, relaxing, and interesting. This is our second year coming to the Marcel Lodge and have had a fantastic experience both times."
