Mount Pleasant Hotel

"The hotel setting is lovely, full of trees and birdsong. Our room was a good size and the bathroom was immaculately clean. However, we could hear the occupant's in the room above us, quite clearly, getting into bed, using the bathroom and chatting, though fortunately, this didnt carry onto late or too early! The breakfast was nice, though is quite formal, but the breakfast team are charming and proficient. And parking onsite is a bonus. The hotel would benefit from modernisation, starting with a new plain carpet in the communal areas and a less awkward main door entrance. Overall, a pleasant stay."

"Perfect location for another of our short Theatre stays in Sidmouth, we had a great stopover which also included a dip in the sea just over the road from the hotel. Our room was perfect, (we have stayed in this room previously) lovely large comfy bed, super clean and equipped bathroom, shower pressure was a little low maybe due to the weather not sure, however all perfect for our stay and once again the staff were lovely and very helpful. Thanks"

"Service excellent with high ratio of staff to guests. Enjoyed all food including light bites served outside or in beautiful sun lounge with sea views. Only downside in a heat wave, the bedrooms aren’t air conditioned but fans are provided."

"The room needed more thorough cleaning dusty picture rails, skirting boards, bathroom door. Wooden bench dressing table seat dirty needed wiping, doors and wardrobes had dirty black hand marks on. Main stair rails dirty in parts on the white posts could be vusibly seen. Mirror light switch reported in ensuite bathroom, as it wasn't secured on light, and kept slipping off and not connecting properly. Kettle in bedroom reported as lid slightly warped, when pouring boiling water out it leaked from the warped lid as well as the spout! Nothing done whilst there. Mattress protector on bed had black bobbly bits stuck all over it which could be felt through sheet. Suggest old tatty protectors like this need throwing out. As a guest I was horrified to find on day 4 that my own personal new towels which I kept away from the bathroom were removed from my bedroom. The staff members said they would replace them with two new ones when my vacation finished, but sadly I was offered older more worn towels. Which I did not accept or take. Very disappointed by this. On the positive Good breakfast, polite friendly staff, very comfy beds would go again but armed with antibacterial wipes to clean the black hand marks off, that were on the wardrobe doors, bathroom door and the door handles and knobs."

"Front desk was great on check in. Excellent food Single room was a little small, but very clean and looked refurbished. Very pleasant traditional hotel, with a lovely sea view from ground floor and garden. Parking is limited. Great for a weekend break or business trip"

"Really nice stay - welcomed in arrival and given our keys. Lovely family room overlooking the sea front. Clean and tidy throughout. Parking allocated out the back which was really handy. Only tiny issue was our pup wasn’t checked in, which caused a slight issue at breakfast as we had to go in the bar area but soon sorted out and had a lovely breakfast. Would love to return at some point"

"We loved staying at Dukes. The staff were really warm and welcoming from start to finish. My husband remembers staying at Dukes when he was a child and wanted to share this with our children. Our only issue was that the room was very hot, but we were going through a heatwave, so that can't be helped. But maybe some fans in the room would have been helpful. Thank you for a lovely stay!"
Fabulous Sidmouth apartment with sea peeps

"We had a great week in Sidmouth in this flat as everything we needed was in the flat. It’s an excellent location for the beach, cricket club, black moor gardens and most restaurants in Sidmouth. A good selection of shops very close by but not so close as to make it unattractive. We found the flat and surrounding area surprisingly quiet. A short cut to the buses so waiting for them was made easy when we had a lazy day out to Exeter, we had a car so the parking spot made life simple. Our week was in August so unable to comment on the heating but sure nothing to make me think the flat wouldn’t be warm later in the year. It was a great week for us and we will book again."
