Excellent Stay - Any Season

We loved this property and the cabin itself. The only thing was the listing showed photos of a room with 2 bunk beds but there were only 3 double beds available, so one kiddo slept on the couch. He enjoyed sleeping by the fire though,so it all worked out.

Family trip

The property was very enjoyable. Love the access to the river. We enjoyed the peace and fishing. It’s a short trip to Durango and Lemon lake. The house has everything you need. We will return for sure!

The property is gorgeous. The house is well stocked and has every kitchen gadget you could think of. There are well taken care of ponds and a little beach you get access to. It’s worth every bit they charge. Well priced for what you get.

Beautiful location!!!

The pictures of the property do NOT do it justice! To be right on the river and catch trout in the backyard was an amazing experience for our family. The home was comfortable and had everything we needed. We had a great time and enjoyed our experience there. If we ever vacation in Durango in the future, I’d definitely stay at this home again!

Perfect spot for our family

We loved the cabin and it was perfect for our family. The kids loved playing in the creek and exploring and my husband and I loved our morning coffee on the back porch while listening to the creek. Best VRBO rental experience we’ve had yet!

Between the Waters stay

The house is set 30 feet from the creek and is so lovely. The sound of the creek is so enjoyable from the deck, inside when the screen in used and will lull you to sleep in your bed. The evergreens in the area make the air smell so fresh. The house was clean and has been decorarated in a Western and Native American motif. We loved all the decorations. We spent quite a lot of time playing cards on the deck. It was quality family time. There are many things to do in the area and downtown Durango is really cool! The only drawback was the uncomfortable futon in the guest room. We even bought a pad to make it softer but it needs to be replaced with a real comfortable bed.

Family Vacation

The property is in a great location next to the Florida River just steps from the patio. The property was clean with nice amenities inside, however the outside needs cleaning. IE, power washing the patio because of the cob webs and bird droppings. Landscaping was not maintained and was over grown. Cell phone coverage was non existent which wouldn’t have been a problem but the house phone and WiFi were also not working. We did contact property management after arriving with no resolution the entire week of our stay, even after repeated inquiries. This wouldn’t have been a problem but with no cell reception a local land line was needed in case of emergencies. Other than the few issues it was a wonderful stay.

Family vacation

My husband and I, and my mother, spent five days in Durango. The Between the Waters home was a perfect fit for us. The river just steps from the back deck made for soothing time to just sit and enjoy, both the river and the cool weather. The home itself had plenty of room for the three of us.

Great location, Disappointing beds, Lots of items.

Quiet neighborhood, beautiful view & close to town. We always stay in vacation rentals when visiting Durango. Note, before your stay: To be clear, 3rd bedroom is NOT a “Double” but in fact a FUTON. All mattresses should be replaced bc they were terrible, especially the futon. The week’s rent could easily replace all mattresses & elevate the rental. It’s a shame since this is probably the only thing keeping us from staying here again. Could easily be our go-to place. Owners should replace the kitchen utensils with a few good ones as opposed to tons of old & unusable ones. House has no pantry basics - cooking oil/spray, seasonings, foil, saran wrap etc. a first I’ve seen in a rental. Perhaps the cleaning crew throws out everything after each visitor? Plan ahead before you stay. Kitchen appliances - stove, fridge and microwave were quite new and fully functioning! While I’m sure the decor in the home took decades to acquire, there is truly SO MUCH stuff in this house and it feels overly cluttered and rugs throughout don’t lay flat despite beautiful hardwood floors. The MOST BEAUTIFUL decor were the Glidden paintings depicting Colorado landscapes. These stunning pieces should be the focal point of home's décor, truly. Kudos to the artist - they were incredible. House was shockingly clean for the amount of decor. You’d expect you’d find items covered with dust, however they were not. Bathrooms spotless. Plenty of seating areas for everyone and quite comfortable for 4-6 people.

Rushing stream.

Loved the location and the rushing stream just off the porch. Great place to enjoy that morning coffee and in the Colorado mountains. Catching a few trout made it even better. Nice home and location.

Fantastic spot

We loved this home. Stayed with my parents (my dad's 76th birthday!) And my kids. So nice to be on the river. Dad caught one trout in the stream. Thanks so much for sharing your special space.

River Retreat Near Endless Adventure

We enjoyed our stay at Between the Waters. We fell asleep each night to the sounds of the rushing Florida River - it was amazing! We booked the property as a jumping off point for our Durango area adventures. We hiked at Vallecito Lake, biked the Animus River trail through Durango, rode the D&SNG RR's Cascade Canyon train, enjoyed the dinner show at the Bar D Ranch (highly recommend!), spent an afternoon enjoying the wibbit on Lake Nighthorse, and took a whitewater rafting trip on the Animus River. We were mostly at Between the Waters to eat and sleep, but we did book it also for the fishing opportunities in the river and at the neighborhood pond during the evenings. We aren't used to river fishing, so we didn't have any luck there. As for the pond...unfortunately, the neighborhood association pass that was left to access the pond was out of date (by 2 years), and residents at the pond turned us away when we went to use it. That was a big disappointment for our kiddos. We reached out to the management company, but the issue wasn't resolved before our week's vacation was up. But the home was lovely...lots of history on the walls. The one other thing I would mention is that the third bedroom's bed was a pretty hard futon mattress. My 12 year old still slept ok, but I somehow didn't realize that it wasn't an actual bed from the photos. Overall a great home with plenty of kitchen counter space, a dinner table large enough for our family of six, and a wonderful home!

This place was absolutely amazing!!! Spent mornings on patio listening to the river while drinking our coffee and tea. Enjoyed watching the wildlife . Neighborhood was wonderful. Just 15 minutes from downtown.

Peaceful Stay!

We enjoyed this property so much. The access to the lakes and river for fishing were a family favorite. The house is steps from the Florida River which made for such a peaceful sound. It was the perfect place to escape the hustle of everyday life. Short drive to Durango for all the things town has to offer but far enough out to feel secluded.

Peaceful Retreat

I wish we had more time in this beautiful, super unique cabin on the river. It doesn't have a fire pit, which we were disappointed in but the covered patio was great. The river and surroundings were stunning. The cabin itself has amazing artifacts and paintings. Loved the vibe. Wifi didn't really work for us. Loved our stay here!

Spring vacation

Great cozy home. The location was good for getting to town. I wish the river had more flow to it so we could have fished. That being said it was still the end of winter and things were still frozen. All in all it was a great trip. I would definitely stay here again.
