Beautiful lakeside retreat - Perfect for the adventuresome family -pet friendly

  • The Lake House at Picture Rock Ranch is located in the stunning Torrey Valley Canyon 12 miles from the town of Dubois. The completely rebuilt historic cabin features two bedrooms with views of Tail Lake, one and 1/2 baths, full kitchen and laundry, a screened in front porch, wood stove, and a pull out coach to sleep up to six people.

    Enjoy the serenity of the water at your front door and the beauty of the Ross Lake Glacier in your back yard. Take your morning coffee on the dock and watch the sunrise on the peak of the Absaroka mountains. Spend some time paddling on the lake in a canoe or kayak, or try your hand at tricking a trout with world class fly fishing in the lake or on the Torrey Creek that runs through the property. Take a short hike to the Indian petroglyphs (ancient Indian rock carvings) on property and in the canyon, or hike the many trails surrounding the Lake House. A campfire and smores might be a great ending to your day.

We absolutely loved our stay at this peaceful cabin and hope to return again in the future. The setting is ideal-- set within large tracts of public land, remote and spectacular scenery -- yet in reach of Dubois for groceries and restaurants. We so appreciated having access to boats included in the rental; it was really nice to take some short trips to see wildlife and fish along the stream feeding the lake. Our son particularly enjoyed the fly fishing here. It was great watching the osprey from the dock. The cabin was well stocked with all equipment that we needed and was very comfortable for our group. We did 3 nearby hikes during our one week stay and look forward to exploring this area of Wyoming further in a future stay! Amazing host was very helpful with local suggestions for things to do and orientation to the cabin. We so enjoyed our week!

Perfect vacation

We wanted to relax and unplug and we did just that, thanks to the lakehouse. We fished, kayaked, hiked, explored Dubois and enjoyed every minute of the cabin, location, weather, people, and amazing views. This was our favorite vacation, and we've traveled, and we will be back as often as we can.

Quiet oasis

Property owner was great at communication and super friendly. The cabin is set in a quiet, beautiful oasis on a lake. Our family enjoyed every minute. Fishing, kayaking and hiking trails were all easily accessible and enjoyed all week long!

Perfect Getaway

perfect secluded cabin with Gorgeous view of the lake, our Dogs loved it, We loved the town of Dubois and it was just a short car ride to the Tetons, Jerry was very friendly and helped us with anything we needed, living room furniture was a little uncomfortable but we made do, All in All was a great vacation , especially the canoeing on the lake

Our Honeymoon

We chose the cabin for our honeymoon and it couldn’t have been more perfect. The cabin provides a unique sense of peace but also opportunity for adventure. This place is truly a unique find and every bit of 5 stars.

Beautiful lakeside retreat

The cabin was so beautiful and so peaceful. We stayed there to be close to the Tetons and Yellowstone. We enjoyed the mountains but enjoyed the cabin and its surroundings as much. We sat on the dock for hours enjoying the views. The fishing on the lake and hiking to Lake Louise were amazing The owners were very helpful and very nice.We would highly recommend the cabin.

Absolutely gorgeous!

We stayed a week with your pet dog at this cabin. The cabin was comfortable, clean and well maintained — had everything we were hoping for. Beautiful mornings and evenings right on the lake, with wonderful walks on the property as well up into the glacial hills. Great hosts that made sure we had everything we needed. Their dogs were also very friendly. Would highly recommend a stay here …. we look forward to returning.

Thank you, Jerry, for sharing your lovely cabin and the cookout on the 4th! The cabin had everything we needed. I loved all the animals: deers, foxes, prong horns, osprey, rabbits and fish. We had such a relaxing time walking your property in the morning and reading on the screened porch in the afternoon. The dogs and the cat had the best vacation of their lives as well. Lakehouse retreat

The Lakehouse was great. Everything was very well represented in the ad making it easy to know what we needed to bring and what could stay home. We all had a great time exploring the area. Best of all, we could just hang out at the cabin and enjoy a great lake and dock right out the back door! Host is super friendly and very accommodating to any questions or needs you may have. Peaceful

Very peaceful and relaxing place to get away. Jerry was very kind and welcoming and leaves a nice personal touch for his guests (I won’t ruin it for future guests). It is definitely in a very remote area. If you like the outdoors and are looking to disconnect, this is the best place. The Lake House has everything you could need, way more than any other places we’ve stayed in the past. Linda, the caretaker of the ranch, was absolutely amazing and we very much enjoyed meeting her.

Vacation in the mountains.

We booked this property last minute after we seen our week had opened up. Jerry was quick to respond and sent his number for easy communication. We arrived to a clean welcoming cabin. The location is beautiful and peaceful. The lake and the views were nothing short of spectacular. The surrounding property was stunning. Jerry and his family were so kind and we loved speaking with him about the history of the cabin, and the ranch itself. We loved the kayaks,canoes, and fishing and coffee on the dock. We would absolutely recommend this place for a quiet get away or some time with your family. Thank you Jerry and family! We can’t wait to come back The Elliott family.

As close to perfect as it gets

I cannot adequately describe how much my family and I enjoyed staying at this property. Although we trekked to the Tetons, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, Sheshone Natl Forest area, and the local sights, we couldn’t wait to return to the property to hang out and enjoy its amenities. We fished, kayaked, canoed, hiked (a lot), stared at petroglyphs, chilled on the pier to the lake and in the screened room, petted horses, and I even kept up with my work emails (like a loser) thanks to the robust wifi available. This experience is exactly what my family needed to bond after a year of intense activity that scattered us in every direction. This property and area bristles with as much recreation one can handle…..or none at all. The host is a good man, and I believe we hit everything that he’d recommended. I suggest that others follow his kind advice. The property is mind-blowingly spectacular, and we wanted to spend every waking minute outside while there. My family tends to never vacation at the same place twice, but I believe that we found our exception.

Sooooo gorgeous!!!

We stayed for a wonderful week. The location is beyond beautiful. The screened in porch makes a wonderful spot to sit during a storm or to get away from bugs and you still have the wonderful lake view. You have the same amazing view from both bedrooms, the dock, a nice sitting spot in front of the dock and from the fire pit. Jerry was very kind and responsive. The area felt very private but there were people close enough that you felt safer than in a fully secluded area. The mosquitoes were heavy but didn’t bite while we had our bug spray on. The cabin had everything you need. It felt like an old rustic cabin but had the comforts we are used to. We even woke up to find a fresh stack of firewood ready. I loved that it was dog friendly. Though my new rescue pups were not so friendly with the 3 sweet rescue pups the nice lady still came and brought my pups some treats. A very kind laid back area/town. If you aren’t sure if your pups will play nicely with the free roaming resident pups leave them home. The stay at this cabin is such a great experience you want to be able to experience all the great things in the area. It was tons of fun kayaking with my kids for the first time. The mellow water makes it the perfect place to learn. We heard the lake was too cold to play in but we thought it was tolerable during a hot a day. Close enough to Yellowstone and the Tetons. This trip fulfilled the dream I had in my head and checked off a few thinks on my bucket list. Thank you Jerry!
