「Family winter getaway. Spectacular views and great location on the upper part of the north shore. Loft is really great with bunk beds having limited room and access to the top bunk. Was a tight fit for our teenagers. Be prepared for morning sun in addition to moonlight. Special place in a special location.」

「I had a nice stay here. The cabins were cozy and had a full kitchen. It had a nice view of Lake Superior as well. The only downsides were one of the bedrooms didn't have a heat source and the bathroom just a had a small shower. But that wasn't a concern for me. Grand Marais is a short drive away.」

Ample cozy seating arrangements inside & out to enjoy family chats or listening to the sounds of the lake. The home has a nice collection of original art from local artists. 「What a perfect setting in the woods and close to everything ie. Lutsen and Grand Marais. A few initial small glitches; however, Mr. Smothers was MORE than accommodating especially given it was Thanksgiving day. Pool was closed; however, the public pool in Grand Marais was open. A setting were several quiet walks with family was very relaxing and therapeutic! I HIGHLY recommend THE HIBERNATION HOUSE! 」

「We had an excellent stay here. The cabin is well designed, great space for a large group, with lots of sleeping options and nice views of the woods. Everything was clean and well stocked, lots of towels for the sauna, and quality cookware in the kitchen. The dining table was huge and great for board games. We got a really nice rate that was super reasonable for our visit too. I’d definitely book these again in the winter to enjoy the sauna to its fullest.」
