The Landsford Canal, technically a navigation channel parallel to the line of a watercourse, opened in 1823 with the purpose of bypassing rapids along the Catawba River in order to allow efficient freight transport and rapid travel between nearby communities and settlements along the rural frontiers of the era. This was the canal, it's amazing to walk through these wall that once carried boats.

"The house was perfect in location and the property manager was very helpful when we requested additional paper towels and TP. We checked early and the cleaner wasn't finished, but was very nice. If you bring a boat, be aware that it is difficult to turn around and back your boat in. There is a private ramp very close which was very nice to use. "

"Clean, air conditioned, off street parking, walking distance to downtown, flexible management, perfect place. Just be aware the 2nd floor unit has a tight staircase climb up. If you can do that with a suitcase, it's a great place to stay. We had no problems. "
