About this property
Heath Cottage, Mattishall, Dereham , Norfolk
If you’re looking to escape the hustle and bustle, Heath Cottage puts you at the heart of the countryside, with plenty of local footpaths and bridleways to explore across acres of fields and farm land. Despite the feeling of being away from it all, the cottage is on the outskirts of the village of Mattishall, and you’re within easy reach of some of Norfolk’s most historic towns, including Dereham and Wymondham. The county town of Norwich is also just a 20-minute drive away.
Inside this semi-detached cottage, you’ll find plenty of room for you to all relax and enjoy your time away. There’s a sitting room with a wood burning stove to keep you cosy in the cooler months, along with a separate snug and a sitting area in the kitchen too. Two of the bedrooms have zip and link beds that can be converted to twin beds if required.
Despite being thoroughly and tastefully renovated, the property has retained many of its period charms, including its wooden beams. The delightful, enclosed garden is accessible from bifold doors in the kitchen. On a sunny day, there’s nothing better than to open the doors fully and enjoy life al fresco on the terrace, complete with hot tub and table tennis, surrounded by the birdsong.
Within an hour's walk of Heath Cottage are the Victoria Inn in Hockering; The Honingham Buck in Honingham; and in the other direction is The Lodge Griddle and Grill in North Tuddenham, all between 2 and 3 miles away.
Additional Information: Up to three well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge). Travel cot, High chair and stair gates available on request. The owner has an annexe that adjoins Heath Cottage.
Located in Dereham, this cottage is in a rural area. We had a fabulous stay for a family gathering at a local wedding. Beautifully kept property with everything you would need for all ages. There are a few high steps here and there so those less mobile may find accessing some areas a bit tricky. Overall 10/10 for us though.
Beautiful house and great stay.
Communication with property manager was brilliant, gift package when we arrive was very generous. Over all our stay was amazing!
Only small comment of complaint.
The photos are outdated and the garden has been halved, so if you plan to use the space ( I brought a lot of garden game to play that we couldn’t end up doing due to incorrect photos ) also there was dog poo on the grass that had been left by previous people.
Apart from that, we will definitely be returning as was a great place for friends and family
We had a lovely short break in Norfolk. Heath Cottage was a perfect location: very spacious, clean, excellently maintained and warm with everything you would need. - We felt very much at home. We’d love to return again soon. We felt so welcome. A very responsive and accommodating host. Thanks a lot Scott! Would definitely recommend and would definitely book again if returning to the area.
