It was only a short break but we found the staff very friendly and nothing was to much trouble and the owners Alex and Myles were also very pleasant and also nothing was to much trouble the food was exceptional that the chef prepared would definitely return

Very friendly staff and overall good facilities although some areas are rather tired and could be improved. Our room was well presented and comfortable although the lock on the door was frustratingly fiddly to operate (even the staff commented on this). We will definitely return!

Excellent Short Break Hotel

We had an amazing 3 night break. Hotel was clean, comfy bed, beautiful view, lovely food nothing was too much trouble. Great hot indoor pool, sauna and jacuzzi… special thanks to Christine for wonderful breakfast service and going the extra mile by sending us the evening menu when we were out and arranging with the chef something that wasn’t on the menu for that evening. Thanks to Jackie for her knowledge of the area and Bella on reception. We will definitely be back but for longer next time.

After an initial mistake with our booking which was my mistake, we eventually got to enjoy 2 out of our 3 night booking. I'm so glad we did, it was our 28th wedding anniversary and we had such a lovely time. The outdoor pool was a real bonus for me. Great being so close to Dartmouth and Slapton, both places we love. All the staff were very friendly and attentive.

Stoke Lodge is in a lovely village and surrounding area. We understood that it is a hotel in transition as new owners only took over last year, they have done up some areas, the leisure pool area was great. The food was of a high standard, staff were friendly and helpful, but obviously some areas notably stairs and landings etc were worn and tired. This will be a hidden gem when all the renovations have taken place.

Not what we expected.

We didn’t get off to a good start as were told no food was available due to a Christmas party being held. We were told we could have the party meal at a cost of £29.99. Having already eaten a main meal we didn’t want another. After complaining to a manager sandwiches were provided. Our room was lovely but there was a few issues. To fill the kettle we had to climb into the bath as the sink was too small to be able to fill the kettle. My husband had problems getting in and out of the shower. He has reduced mobility and no hand rail is provided. The second night we stayed we went down for a drink. The lounge area was very cold. On speaking to one of the owners we understand they have just taken over and have quite a few issues to sort. Overall we were disappointed mostly to do with communication. We should have been told in advance about the limited food options and given the option to cancel or find an alternative. We choose not to eat any other meals at the hotel due to the issues incurred and spent our money in other local venues.

Hotel was lovely, had everything we liked. Lovely outside area, pool and we even enjoyed the pool table. The food was fantastic 5 star and really made our stay. Would definitely go back again. Only one thing that could possibly make stay even better is a little fan in the rooms when it’s super hot, especially on ground floor.

Fabulous stay at Stoke Lodge Hotel for a short 5 day break. The location is idyllic and the hotel is slowing being renovated by the current owners. All staff are super friendly and helpful. Breakfast was delicious.

We were having a wonderful time . On arrival we were told our booking had been amended to include breakfast which was a lovely surprise/ gesture. Spa was great. Room clean & comfortable . All going well ! Then during the second night I was taken ill , husband had to take me to hospital , then drive back to check out . This was when he was charged for the breakfasts which we’d been told were complimentary. Obviously hubby not too thrilled but didn’t want to make a fuss as there were other guests around and he was in a hurry to get back to hospital which was some distance away. Real Shame. Don’t promise something then not deliver - better to have not promised in the first place . We didn’t book breakfasts so we wouldn’t have been disappointed had they not “upgraded our booking . But to then be charged was very disappointing. Such a shame because otherwise it was a lovely stay. Was going to book again and recommend to friends and family but probably won’t do now. The breakfast issue has left a bitter taste sadly.

Short break away

We only stayed two nights, but everything was really good. Very friendly staff, room was clean and comfortable. Didn't get round to using the indoor pool, but, took a look and it was lovely. A central hotel to what we wanted to see, great coastal walks too. Wish we'd stayed longer.

The owners are gradually updating the property, which when finished will be a tranquil haven. The staff are excellent, friendly and a real asset to the hotel. Great location for trips into Dartmouth and Salcombe.

A lovely hidden Gem

Our room was lovely, one of the best beds we have had in a hotel for a while. The staff looked after us very well. It feels like a lot of love went into everything. And we really enjoyed our stay.
