"I've stayed at Old Silk Appartments twice so far in apartments 8 and 9. Both I found spotless, white soft towels, comfy beds, tastefully decorated well maintained and adequately appointed. Large fridge freezer, 4 ring hob oven and microwave, basic set of kitchen utensils and a couple of pans adequate to cook something simple. 2/10 Terrible

"I checked in (friendly and efficient staff) and noticed the terrible condition the place was in. The corridors and the bar area were bleak and did not give me a safe or welcoming feeling at all. The carpets in the corridors were worn out and knackered and don’t get me started on the room. Old, in urgent need of a revamp and downright depressing. Despite having paid for the night, I decided to leave and went to another hotel at the other side of town: comparable price, modern and taken care of. Best decision ever. No more Ibis for me ever again. I will not use the word that comes to mind when I think of this place, but I guess you can work it out."

"To be honest, I was extremely disappointed with my stay. My room was located in an outbuilding called The Paddocks, around a 500‑metre walk from the main hotel — not ideal, especially in bad weather. The room itself was in desperate need of updating. The carpet felt dirty, the bathroom was in a poor state, the wooden windows wouldn’t shut properly, and the door rattled constantly throughout the night. Overall, the standard fell well below expectations, and I won’t be staying at this hotel again."

"Housing keeping staff were friendly. Hotel is very busy. Reception staff are overworked and have zero patience, they forget to action requests such as having no towels in the room for a second day. Restaurant is average at best. Room is dated Would I stop there again. No chance"

"The bath was dirty, there was a hole in the bathroom door, and a dent in it too. The toilet flush failed at one point and there was no maintenance person on site till the morning. Thankfully it rectified itself. No plug in the sink. The TV didn't work, we tested the socket and it was the socket that didn't work. One of the 2 bedside table lamps didn't work (and was an ancient 2 pin plug!) There was no information in the hotel room about facilities, when things opened, when food was etc. There were some instructions on using the TV which said to refer to the information guide provided (but it wasn't!) We arrived at teatime, and found the food choices limited. We had to ask for plates, as they had run out. The "choice of puddings" was actually the chef's choice of one, although it varied through the course of the meal. When we got to pudding it was black forest gateaux, which neither me nor the kids fancied. Staff lady was helpful and found me a tin of peaches, so I was happy! The swimming pool wouldn't let the children swim (ages 14 & 11) until after 10am. (we were staying overnight) which was a real shame, as it was one of the reasons we had chosen the hotel. Over all it felt dated, unloved and in need of a cash investment. A shame as it would've been amazing in its heyday."
