Good central location which we stayed in twice on our recent trip to Central Australia. On the way up the room was above ground and near the road - a bit noisy overnight and we could hear the TV in the next room On the way back, the room was between the pool and the bistro and was much quieter. Beds were comfy, Bistro was very convenient for dinner (and yummy club food). The underground museum was very good and should be promoted more. Learned heaps about Opal mining, the history and construction of the Stuart Highway and of Coober Pedy itself. Loved it and highly recommend when you are staying at this motel.

Desert Cave Hotel Was the best place in the way to Urulu. Price was very reasonable and I loved the service and the friendly staff. Restaurant and bar was nice and food was very good. I had dinner and breakfast and I stayed there for one night on my way to Urulu. I had under ground room which was magnificent. Amenities was clean and service was the best. I strongly recommend Desert Cave hotel and Coober Pedy as the rest stop on the way to Urulu or a place to visit. Opal mine museum and under ground facilities such as the Catholic Chuch are just a few examples of what you can enjoy

I have stayed at a few hotels in town now and this was the best to date. Clean (dated - BUT they all are) and centrally located. Beds were good, bathroom again dated but clean. The night we stayed it was quite. Bar was clean and modern. Parking unsecure but we parked outside our room. I would stay here again over the others I have tried.

While the room was clean, the bathroom definitely needs an upgrade/refresh. The bed was like sleeping on rocks, very hard, lumpy and uncomfortable. Staff were friendly and helpful.

Staff in cafe area were poorly trained, and even seemed unclear as to what food was available for lunch. Ended up taking almost 30 minutes to be served 2 coffees with cake - and no other customers.

Reception was shut on arrival, checked in at bar, but, the Bae person was busy serving other ppl. Room old, nothing like pictures. Dinner booked at 5.30, 2 staff members serving drinks taking meal orders. Meal average ordered pork schnitzel got chicken. Paid for 2 nights left after 1.

Nice underground room situated in the Main Street of Coober Pedy. Staff were excellence and I cannot fault them. A few issues with the room that brought my rating down, debris over the couch, minimal sockets for charging phone and non-existent WiFi. However, if you’re looking for a comfy bed with good walking distance to the different attractions this was a good stay.
