"Enjoyed the stay, this was a birthday weekend trip. The only issue we had is that the ice machine was not working. We were there a little bit before the season started. Otherwise we enjoyed the stay, the room, the staff and location."

"The Crab Shack felt as comfy as home but with better taste. We loved the fun color scheme and each of the bedrooms felt like a serene retreat. The living room had plenty of space for watching a movie and our little karaoke dance party. Those recliners are absolute heaven! Great info provided for local spots to visit. We had a blast. Awesome hosts. Easy check in/out. 10/10"

"This 5-bedroom home exceeded all of our expectations! The space was beautifully maintained, clean, and thoughtfully laid out, making it perfect for a large group. Each bedroom was comfortable and private, and the common areas were spacious enough for everyone to gather without feeling crowded.The kitchen was fully equipped with everything we needed, and the living areas were cozy yet stylish. The bathrooms were spotless, and there were plenty of linens and towels for our stay.The location was ideal—convenient, quiet, and close to everything we needed. The host was responsive, welcoming, and made the entire process seamless from check-in to check-out.We truly felt at home here and would absolutely recommend this property to anyone looking for a relaxing and memorable stay. "Staff was in a rush, a bit sharp in conversation. No "drink upon arrival" as advertised. They didn't provide a robe/ person. We were short one robe, despite having to enter the hall to access the bathroom. No hair conditioner offered. The breakfast was pretty normal weekend fare (scrambled eggs with cheese, French toast with sandwich-sized bread), fresh fruit cup. No extra food offered on table."

"We had previously stayed here when it was 'Potomac View,' and while we loved it then, the transformation into 'The Pearl' is amazing. The owners have managed to keep the historic charm while providing a fully updated and comfortable experience.The location remains unbeatable and the wraparound porch with the waterfront view over the Potomac is still the best in Colonial Beach. The interior updates are impressive. The removal of the wall between the kitchen and living room opens up the whole space. We especially appreciated the new central HVAC (no more window units!) and the fast Wi-Fi.The kitchen is stocked with high-end cookware (Cuisinart/Chicago Cutlery) and appliances like the induction range and wine fridge that made cooking easy for our large group. Being able to seat all 10 of us at the new dining table with the crystal chandelier felt very special.The kids also had a great stay. The 'kids nook' was a thoughtful touch and we loved using the new bikes to explore and the cornhole boards in the yard.It is rare to find a 150-year-old home that feels this fresh, warm and comfortable. We are so glad the new owners preserved the heart of this home while making it better than ever! Will be back!"
