Lakefront Farmhouse with 2 acres to enjoy - Fish, Kayak, or launch your boat!
Nestled in a quiet valley, Sugar Lake is one of NW Pennsylvania's 50 glacial lakes. Enjoy days and evenings relaxing on the wrap around porch reading or enjoying wildlife and the scenic views of the lake. At any time you can see a trumpeter swan, a gaggle of geese or a flock of ducks floating by. Early Spring is a great time for migratory birds. This one of a kind hidden gem provides you with a little bit of history as well as a picturesque location to enjoy nature.
Our families have enjoyed the area for more than 30 years. Pontoon boating, kayaking, canoeing, fishing, and paddle boarding directly from the property or public launch less than a football field away.
Find yourself enjoying a serene, idyllic, beautiful setting during your stay or 45 minutes North you can explore Erie PA. The farmhouse is less than a two hour drive from either Pittsburgh, Youngstown or Cleveland. So if you are looking for an escape staycation, you are a short drive away!
Outstanding fishing in the area, with a number of lakes (Sugar Lake, Tamarack, Woodcock and Wilhelm) and creeks (Sugar Creek, French Creek etc.) and a few Trout streams nearby. We can’t thank the owners enough. The house and property were excellent. Enjoyed the view of the lake and watching the bald eagles. It was a very relaxing weekend catching up with friends. Will be going back next year.
The farmhouse was just as described in the listing. The house was cozy and comfortable. The property was the perfect setting for our family. We enjoyed kayaking, fishing, swimming, sitting by the fire as well as the spacious porch. We hope to return in the future!
The porch of this quaint and remote farmhouse overlooking Sugar Lake was a great place to relax and recharge. We enjoyed kayaking and fishing during our stay and were many times virtually alone and sometimes literally alone on the lake during our mid-week July stay. The bathroom is beautifully remodeled. Grilling is a pleasure with a view of the lake. Our hosts communicated well and were very generous to us as guests.
Unit was super clean and comfortable. Views and porch are fantastic…even saw an eagle swoop down and snatch a fish from the nearby lake. Owners are super nice and attentive. Will definitely return… this time with a fishing pole!
The farmhouse on Sugar Lake is a gorgeous, newly renovated home with stunning views of a tranquil glacial lake. The large deck had ample comfortable seating to enjoy the birds and wildlife. This home felt like an oasis from the stresses of daily life, encouraging you to disconnect, slow down, and relax. We loved the well-equiped kitchen, comfy beds, beautiful spa-like bathroom, and fancy barbecue grill. We enjoyed roasting s'mores in the fire pit with lake views. Our stay at the farmhouse gave us memories that will last a lifetime and we hope to return someday!
This was the most PERFECT location/house/experience! Thank you so much for opening your home and making it such a peaceful and beautiful spot to relax and unwind!
We tidied up before leaving and left all bedding piled on beds, towels in the bathroom, and trash outside by the cans. We unfortunately burnt the ends of the oven mits when cooking the one evening. We apologize for this and can absolutely pay for a pair to be replaced ( please let us know how we can reimburse you for this)!
Thank you again for your hospitality, you truly have such a perfect property and we would love to return again sometime!!
We had a family of 10 show up for a nice relaxing weekend together and it did not disappoint. There was a couple issues where: The Wifi would not come up, The Property manager came over to try to resolve the issue but no luck and we ended up having to create hot spots to put a movie on the TV. Other issue was the stairs were very narrow/steep and my mother would not go up them. With this being said, they had child lock gates on the top and bottom of the stairs and my parents slept on the couches, which they both said were very comfortable and deep.
The beds in the bedrooms were very comfortable as well. The neighbors were very friendly, the lake was so beautiful and very active in fishing. The whole family loved this place and will be back again, but next time with kayaks hopefully. :)
We really enjoyed our stay, and the host was very helpful and responsive. They had a nice fire going when we arrived. We will definitely consider the farmhouse again if we are in the area.
The Farmhouse was charming with thoughtful updates and amazing grounds to use. Our children really enjoyed the tree swing and fishing from the shore. We would definitely stay again!
Loved our stay and look forward to coming back! It was a very clean, and well equipped and stocked house, and we felt right at home. Kids loved playing in the yard and making family s’mores in the fire pit at night!
The perfect setting for a family weekend at the lake. The home is spacious and clean. The covered porch has an amazing view of the lake. This was our 2nd time renting the lake house and we will definitely be back!
The property was as described. It was a beautiful house with a great view of the lake. The house had all modern appliances but still had the charm and rustic feel of an older farmhouse. No issues with our check in. Our stay was for 7 days and never had any issues that needed a call made to the home owners. Would definitely stay again if we get back to SugarLake.
We enjoyed a spectacular weekend at the farmhouse. We couldn't drag the kids away from the lake they had so much fun. Fantastic fishing and swimming, comfortable and well thought out accommodations and beautiful views made for a memorable getaway for all of us. Even our youngest was outside coloring one morning and remarked ... it's SO peaceful here ... it really helps me focus :D ! Thank you again!
The place is a nice location however, the pictures are a little misleading. The lake is pretty far from the house like a football field roughly would be my guess. There is no phone service. We had three different providers. None of us could connect on our cell phones, the Internet was spotty, but work sometimes on the first day. The second day was a little better, but if someone went on their phone with the Wi-Fi, it would kick you off the TV on day three the Internet went down altogether for the rest of the day reported it through the number that I was provided nothing was done. They offered me two free days on my next week long stay the mother-in-law went home as she would not be able to contact her nurses in case of an emergency. I asked for a three day stay to make up for all of this because they lost 4 days of the trip. and got no reply whatsoever and lastly, I wouldn’t normally complain, but the spiders are horrendous. The webs on the porches and windows are terrible. The women in the family did not like this of course
