Nice but no AC

The historic property is unique and lovely. Only problem was the lack of air conditioning in our room. We picked the place in part for its AC which is what the Hotels.com profile showed. It was a hot day when we arrived so we were disappointed to find no AC. Plus there are no screens on the Windows and biting mosquitos so we had to close the windows, making for an uncomfortable stay. Had we known there was no AC we would have stayed elsewhere.

sejour enchanteur

Un sejour de 5 nuits dont nous sommes repartis enchantés. Le lieu est inattendu de l'exterieur ( la photo n'est pas du tout a leur avantage). Lieu magnifique tres bien restauré. L'accueil y est plus que chaleureux. Tina, l'employée, est aux petits soins pour ses hotes. Si je devais retenir un "bemol" se serait le café soluble qui denote un peu

Vi var alldeles ensamma på hotellet som var ihopbyggt med ett kapell och med anor flera hundra år tillbaks i tiden. Allt var nyrenoverat på ett smakfullt och förmodligen mycket kostsamt vis och fräscht. Runt hotellet fanns en fantastisk trädgård med egen pool. Förstår inte varför det inte fanns fler gäster. På morgonen kom Tina som serverade oss frukost och städade upp i vårt rum. Låg kanske lite avsides från de mer centrala vindistriktet men det fanns en restaurang ca 300 meter bort som serverade god och rejäl portugisisk husmanskost och en bar/café mittemot. Var en riktig höjdare.

Sehr schön restaurierter alter Landsitz

Die Unterkunft befindet sich in einem top restaurierten alten Gemäuer mit Haupthaus, Nebenhaus & Kapelle. Bei der Ankunft wurden wir von der Hausdame herzlich empfangen & bekamen eine Führung über das Anwesen. Casa Quinta da Calcada hat "nur" 8 Zimmer, ist also sehr gemütlich (wir waren die einzigen Gäste bei unserem Besuch). Es gibt außerdem einen großen Aufenthaltsraum, im Untergeschoss ein Billard Zimmer & einen Pool. In Oliveira gibt es nicht viel, man ist auf ein Fahrzeug angewiesen. Wir waren zum Abendessen in einem kleinen Lokal 200m von der Unterkunft entfernt - nichts außergewöhnliches, aber man bekommt das Leben auf dem Land hautnah mit. Zum Frühstück gab es Brötchen, Wurst, Käse, Marmelade, Obst und Saft. Die Freundlichkeit und Hilfsbereitschaft der Gastgeber muss ich nochmals explizit herausstellen.

Merveilleux lieu! Cadre magnifique! On s'y sent comme à la maison. Nous avons passé un moment très agréable dans ce lieu hors du temps.Notre fils a adoré la piscine et les jardins. Un seul regrets ne pas y être resté plus longtemps!
