The views, private beach, and hotel bar are incredible. The hotel is a little outdated and under a little construction but is the best place to stay while in St. Croix!

Fire alarms chirping continuously due dust from construction. Patio door didn't lock and had to be lifted to open or closed. Light bulbs burnt out leaving room poorly lit. Maintenance under staffed. No path to roll luggage requiring to lift heavy luggage up three flights of stairs. Not senior friendly.

I had asked for a ground floor room when I booked the reservation, I told them I was coming in late and would not make it to the hotel until after 11 PM, I was told that is no problem, there is always someone there. When I arrived and rode the water taxi to the hotel the office was closed the driver of the boat said there is no one there to give me a room. I said can you call somebody and have them come help. He said I am supposed to help you but I don't know how. I told him everything was supposed to be arranged and ready for my arrival, and he said that he could get the information and the key and let me in and I would have to check in with them in the morning. He tried to give me a room on the third floor that they had reserved for me but I told him I was unable to use the stairs since there was no elevator. After a long struggle we ended up with a room on the ground floor. The room was not great, everything was very chipped up. The sliding door to the balcony was trashed and there was no seal frame on the fixed glass and when you opened the door the frame fell out. The beach is nice, but it is public and it is quite often full of drunken sailors or locals. The hotel is in Mid restoration so there is construction everywhere. The people are very nice but the room Wi-Fi or TV we're not functioning, so everything was done via Cell Phone instead of having available Wi-Fi. I called every single day to have it repaired and was assured that it would be fixed. It was never fixed

1.housekeeping needs to be done daily instead of every other day.it’s the beach and who wants sand in their bed. Biggest gripe also is beach towels. There were never any clean ones. We went 4 days with the same towel. On fifth day early that morning I was requesting clean beach towels and they just kept saying they are at the laundry. Finally they brought us towels after dark. Why in the world would it take 5 days to get clean towels? 2. Stairwell behind the bar that takes you to 3 rd floor needs lights working. It was completely dark and it is a trip/ fall hazard. They also need to be clean daily. 3. This place has potential to be a 5 star resort if they would just put more work ethic into the place. Love the island and the views from the rooms are amazing.

I stayed at Hotel On the Cay in St. Croix and my experience was extremely disappointing from the moment I arrived. My room was not cleaned at all — there were used cups, sand everywhere, and the hot water barely worked. The room also had holes and rust on the walls, which made it feel extremely neglected. On my last day, the water went out for over 5 hours, and the hotel couldn’t even offer guests access to another room to shower at their second property. The staff was rude, unhelpful, and didn’t seem to care about the issues guests were dealing with. The ferry, which they claim runs every 5 minutes, was actually running once every hour, causing long waits and wasted time. To make things worse, they even charge guests for beach chairs on their own beach, which is ridiculous. This was by far the worst hotel experience I’ve ever had. I will never return, and I do not recommend this hotel to anyone.

Loved the private beach feel and riding the water taxi was fun. The place definitely felt safe. The sheets were bad but otherwise our stay was great.

Room was clean, the young lady with the multicolored glasses was extremely nice!! The hotel is outdated but clean. The only issue is that I had to wait for the room I actually paid for...but they made an effort. Also the AC was leaking in the room but it was on my last day, so I was not really bothered. Yes I would return, knowing what to expect. The hotel has a nice beach and tasty wings.

We love Hotel on the Cay. It is the most wonderful place to vacation. The hotel is undergoing renovations so you will need to set that aside because you’re not in the room much anyways.

The staff was friendly but uninformed. We miss our original check in date due to transportation issues. We informed the front desk that we would arrive the next morning. The front desk attendant was unaware of our late check-in. We received our keys a proceeded to this dilapidated facility. The little island was. Cute but the state of the property was worse than terrible. We should have been informed that the property was under that kind of renovation. It needs a whole new overhaul. And the state of the pull out bed was a negative star. We also were not informed that we needed a number to call to get the ferry back to the hotel after midnight. My sister were stuck off property until a local man saw my sister in distress and called someone who called someone. Meanwhile I walked around that entire property and there was no one. Not the ferry driver, not security, not anyone on that property that I could see and the front desk was closed. Worse stay ever and I've been traveling for 40+ years. Two thumbs down.

They are under construction so the property is not quite what it will become in the near future. But the property overall is unique and accessible to all amenities.

beautiful location... hotel was/is getting a nice face lift... there are projects were in the ... friendly service... great beach,and beach bar... however bring your own snorkel gear... no rentals..
