There is one desk in the unit in the dining area. There is a printer available on the desk.
Iron and ironing board also available.
There is optional gated parking for one average sized car. Large vehicles may have to park on the street.
NO PARTIES OR GET-TOGETHERS. Our home is for visitors who need a comfortable place to stay during their trip to Chicago. You can have a guest or two, but no more than 6 people in our home at any time.
Our home is in a mid-rise building with an elevator in Chicago's South Shore neighborhood on the South side of Chicago, about a 22-minute drive to downtown Chicago. It is an urban area in the city of Chicago. If you are not familiar with this area, we recommend you do some research on the different neighborhoods or ask us for more information.
We advise that you exercise caution in this area and all areas of Chicago. Walk in groups, stay in at night, be aware of your surroundings. We recommend staying on the outside part of our neighborhood (where our building is located) as you travel to your destinations.
There is laundry in the building, 3 washers and 3 dryers, that are shared with many units in the building. The machines take tokens that cost $1 each. We will provide you with a few courtesy tokens to start, but please let us know ahead of time if you will need to do more than a load or two.
Street parking is free with no permit (check signs to be sure.) Gated parking for ONE car is also available upon request. We recommend gated parking, as neighborhood safety may be a concern for some guests.
There isn't much to do in this neighborhood if you don't have family in the immediate area. We consider our home a more affordable option that is fairly close to downtown with only a 22-minute drive. For restaurants, we recommend going to Hyde Park or downtown. Delivery is also an option.
Our home is next to the elevator and you may hear the elevator doors when they open. You may also hear people walking in the hallway as they pass our unit door. If you are sensitive to sounds, you may want to sleep in the interior bedroom, as it is better insulated from the elevator sounds.
Occasionally, the elevator is out of service. This does not happen very often, and it has usually been restored very quickly. There is a stairwell that goes to our floor (4th floor). The master key that works on the front door to the building also opens the stairwell door.
Late check-in (after 11:00 PM) will incur a late check-in fee. We need to be available to buzz you in when you arrive, and possibly send you additional information, so someone has to be awake and available when you arrive for a smooth check-in. We will need to arrange an arrival time.
There is a bus stop in front of our building that will take you downtown. For safety reasons, we recommend driving, and parking in the gated parking, unless you are familiar with the area and feel comfortable taking public transportation.
*PLEASE NOTE* Our building recently had some construction updates in the lobby and hallways, including new light fixtures, new paint, and new carpet. There may still be some unfinished details in the hallways and/or lobby. Our condo is in good condition as shown in the photos.
