"Attentive staff, beautiful facilities. The breakfast buffet is amazing with both Chinese and Western items! My only complaint is the gym - while the equipment is world class and the view is beautiful, the gym for some reason doesn’t have cleaning wipes. The equipments are not clean! I brought my own wet ones and wiped everything down. Also the water and tea in the dispenser were probably never changed!! It smelled wrong and my friend took a sip and had to spit it out. He said it tasted like sulfur?! There were also always a couple of kids just playing in the gym - it was pretty disruptive. I wish they managed the gym better. Other than that my stay was great!! I don’t think one can find another Ritz at this price point."

"Stayed a few nights at the Shangri la in Chengdu. I’ve stayed there many times over the years for both business and travel. It feels like home. The staff are always wonderful and accommodating. Shout out to Morgan Li, one of the concierge staff, who was very helpful with suggestions for getting around Chengdu and good conversation. He was very concerned about me standing in the heat(very hot in CD on July) while waiting for the taxi he called for me on my final departure from the hotel. I will always stay at the Shangri la when travelling to CD."
