I’ve stayed here several times now when in Chelmsford for work. Lovely place, nice staff, rooms are fab and reasonably priced. A short drive to a park and ride into Chelmsford so perfect for me!
Will definitely stay again and recommend!
Second time I’ve stayed here when in the area for work. Lovely place and service!
Well placed for the Park and ride into Chelmsford.
Will definitely stay again!
Beautiful rooms, lovely bed and bedding, lovely and quiet in delightful countryside 😊 the pub is great with lovely beer and superb food. Great stay for business in Chelmsford
Absolutely fantastic place, friendly service, some of the best beers I’ve ever had and good pub food.
The accommodation was immaculate, clean and good quality. I wouldn’t hesitate to visit again.
The room was very clean with a mix of modern and traditional facilities. Nicely renovated bathroom. The staff in the pub were very friendly and the food was excellent. A great choice of local beers and the food was delicious. Love the large beer garden.
The compasses inn is a hidden gem. It is far from any main roads and has been voted one of the best pubs for many years. Dining is uncoventional in that you have to choos from many options from a blackboard (rather quaint). The staff are extremely freindly
The pub’s location is in a lovely rural location. Our room, ‘Old Bob’, with ensuite, was lovely, big and very clean. The room was very quiet and the bed and pillows were comfortable for a good nights sleep. We enjoyed our breakfast and we’d definitely stay again if the opportunity arose.

Thank you to all at The Compasses!
A lovely old fashioned pub. Excellent Ales and choices of food. I had Ribeye steak and it was tender, tasty and cooked perfectly. Melted in my mouth. Freshly cooked breakfast to order lovely thanks Paul.
A loverly village inn with great food and real ales. Very comfortable bed and room very clean. Shower was clean and they water hot. In all a very comfortable stay. We were, attending a wedding at Leez Priory which as 5 mins away. Local Chelmsford cabs serve the Leez so transport back was very easy.
