"We stayed while the hotel was still renovating. The room was very well appointed, and clean. There was a lot of street noise due to a bar across the street, which might impact light sleeper (who should request rooms not facing Cary St.). They had excellent valet parking. Staff was excellent, and it truly is a nice boutique hotel, well located in the historic district."

The hotel exudes refinement without feeling stuffy, and it’s easy to see why The Jefferson is a beloved institution in the city. Food and Breakfast:** The breakfast was superb, with a distinct Southern Virginia touch that felt comforting and refined at the same time. I enjoyed Virginia ham for breakfast, and it truly took me to heaven—rich, savory, and perfectly prepared. The menu felt both fresh and thoughtfully curated.
