"This place has the most amazing view of Bacalar lagoon hands down out of the 3 other places we stayed at this one wins best view The staff are welcoming and very pleasant the only thing I didn’t consider was staying at such a luxurious hotel was the other guests we felt very uncomfortable around them not friendly at all "

"Love this place . Epic views , jump into cenote Esmeralda right off the dock . Take a boat tour from the friendly staff that operates via the same dock . Sunrise and moonrise over the lake was incredible and worth setting alarms for . A/C worked well and maids cleaned the room sparkly clean . Building is old so there are parts where tiles are loose but that comes with the territory being oldest hotel on the lake. Overall it was an incredible stay and a hard place to leave. I hope to return but we will have to get the private cabin that doesn’t have a drop off the porch as we will be returning with a toddler next trip ."

"Check the room you are getting, the descriptions are not always what you get. Two or three rooms say garden rooms and they are not."

"Spotless, nice room. Outstanding view of the lagoon. Nice amenities in the hotel with a dock at the lagoon with chairs. Paddle boards and kayaks available for free. Wonderful stay."

"Good scenic location and very comfy bed. Staff were not very friendly, especially the older porter who was decidedly grumpy! We thought we had paid in advance only to be told we owed the amount on arrival. We were told it was a 20 minute walk into town but it was over half an hour. The place needed a lot of tlc including tatty chairs on our balcony and broken tiles on the floor. Our shower sprayed water everywhere, flooding the bathroom. No hairdryer or fridge."

"The property is located just off the main highway, accessible via a short dirt road, offering a quiet and peaceful setting away from traffic. The lagoon area was also very nice and well maintained. The property itself was clean and well kept. The outdoor bar was a highlight, serving excellent ceviche and aguachile at very reasonable prices. "

"The cabanas are a sub-standard option. - No key for the cabana rooms. This is a huge issue to me that was not expected. I asked for the key and was told these rooms do not have a key. The night clerk pointed at a security camera that covers the cabanas area and said there is no need to lock as they have security. I could not leave anything in the room as a result. I had a car rental so that was not a massive problem. If I was a backpacker it would have been. There are lock - A-frame style with a thatched roof which is fine. The walls made of vertical sticks with 1+ cm gaps in between is not. They do have the interior lined with mosquito nets. Overall just very shoddy builds and shabby condition. Rooms are small - just room for the bed and two small side tables. Ok if you are solo and/or packing light. The patios are cute - two chairs and a table. However, they face the other villas and are about 3-4 meters apart so it suits extroverts better possibly. - Sheets were clean but there was loose dirt/lint/dust on the sheets, pillowcases and on the blanket. - Washroom facilities are atrocious. The toilets do not have seats - nasty anywhere in the world! - Bathrooms were not overly clean; bring sandals if you use the shower - I chose to swim in the lagoon instead. How bad? I was exhausted the first of the two nights I stayed there but skipped the shower and using the toilet. Then packed up in the morning and chose to sleep in the car for the 2nd night instead!!! "
