"This house was booked last minute for an improptu women's holiday because it was available and allowed a pet. The view of the lake is beautiful, but you can't get in and out to swim here. Many things were in disrepair like doors, windows, and screens. Linens, towels, water, toilet paper was not ready for us and had to be asked for and was stained and worn. "Where to begin… I have mixed feelings about Our Habitas. We stayed for seven days in a jungle room, which cost about $180 per night. Upon arrival, we were initially thrilled with our decision. The room was amazing, featuring a great outdoor shower, 24/7 air conditioning, and reliable power throughout our stay. They even surprised us with a traditional welcome pound cake on our very first night! Plus, the walk to the gorgeous lagoon was less than two minutes. Getting to the property does require a bit of navigating. The reception is located right by the highway entrance, and if you are coming in from Bacalar town, you cannot make a direct turn into the hotel because it sits on the opposite side of the road. Instead, you have to drive a few kilometers past it to make a U turn. Once you check in at the reception, the staff takes you down to the actual resort area in a golf cart. The road to the rooms is a narrow, one kilometer path cutting through the dense jungle. Because of this layout, you have to request a cart and wait to be driven back and forth between your room and the reception whenever you are heading out to meet a taxi or a shuttle. Unfortunately, we also encountered a few setbacks with connectivity once we arrived. Our only major complaint, which we heard from several other guests, was the Wi-Fi. It rarely worked in the rooms or the common areas like the bar and restaurant. Because the property is located so far out, cell signal is nearly nonexistent for foreigners."

"I stayed in Carolina for 6 days and we absolutely loved it! The staff was so nice, the dining area was incredible, and the waiters went above and beyond—they definitely deserve a raise! I traveled with three kids (ages 9, 6, and 2), and the water was perfect for them since it was very shallow. My husband had to work during our stay, but the staff also went above and beyond by setting up a large table for his computer to make his workspace much more comfortable. Additionally, tour bookings are right next door, and there are plenty of restaurants within walking distance."

"Our room was clean, the bedding was changed every 3 days, the property looks very nice. The food is pretty fancy, the chef knows what they are doing for sure. The staff was very friendly and helpful. A couple of suggestions though: the room needs additional storage in the bathroom, there's absolutely nowhere to put your stuff. Also, if the hotel is advertised as luxury please provide hangers and skin lotion."
