The village of Dalston is on the Reivers Cycle Route and the Cumbrian Way, walkers and cyclists can regularly be seen enjoying the facilities in the village. The River Caldew flows through the village and the footpath running alongside, can be followed passing through Cummersdale to Carlisle. A 15 minute drive will also bring you to Carlisle with a wealth of shops, bars and restaurants from all corners of the globe. Caldbeck and the Caldbeck Fells known locally as the ‘Back of Skiddaw' is a 20 minute drive, the views over Bassenthwaite from here are not to be missed, drop down into the valley and continue on to Keswick, in total a 30 minute drive.
