About this property
Private Contemporary Artist's Tree House on two acres with perennial gardens.
This contemporary two story addition floats like a tree house among apple trees. All the amenities of a hotel, but the feeling of your own home, surrounded by art from the 19th to 21st centuries (we are collectors and artists ourselves), on two acres with perennial gardens filled with foxglove, delphinium, sunflowers, dahlias, tulips and more overlooking a wetland: private entrance and parking, deck, grill, huge hot tub (shared) with expansive backyard and woods, Streaming TV, 500 Mbps Mesh Wifi, access to a canoe and kayak, efficiency kitchen, and all the quiet you can imagine. My husband and I occupy the main house to which this addition is attached, but the split level space is completely your own and not shared. Come enjoy the Foodie haven of Portland, Maine and the quiet elegance of rural living. Come to write your next novel or just get away. We are a 5 minute drive to downtown Portland and all the local beaches; as well as numerous woods walks and beach walks walking distance from our home. Bring your bike and paddle board, or borrow our canoe and kayak.
Book your dinner reservations in Portland, and your sleeping accommodations in the Artist's Tree House. Please note the kitchen is an efficiency kitchen. We have an induction hot plate, microwave, coffee maker, toaster oven and outdoor grill, but the kitchen is small. No dishwasher. No clothes washer or dryer. For wonderful, more extensive meals we suggest these great local restaurants: Leeward, Central Provisions, Twelve, Isa, Street and Co, Terlingua, Bao Bao, Davids 388, Fore Street, Regards, Bar Futo, Eventide Oysters, Izakaya Minato, Duckfat and Miyake--to name a few!

What a beautiful property! Brian was so communicative and provided great recommendations for beaches and restaurants. Hopeful we get the opportunity to stay here again!
This VRBO was a perfect place for us to stay while we checked out Portland. Close to the city, the beach, good restaurants. Place was beautifully decorated with a hip feel. Hosts were friendly and attentive.
My wife and I had the best time here. It was so close to all of the most beautiful places in Portland. Very quiet and relaxing. Everything you could want from Maine!! Brain was an awesome host and gave us the best recommendations for dinning and site seeing.
Very homey, very clean, comfortable bed. All we needed during our stay was procedez.
The host was extremely responsive and courteous.
We will like to visit again and I would stay here again.
Surrounded by beauty and nature. Tranquil, relaxing and comfortable environment. Perfect for unwinding from the busyness of life! Brian is a wonderful host.
Such a beautiful and serene spot, comfortable & cozy, with incredibly easy access to Portland and the Cape Elizabeth walks and beaches. We especially appreciated the Dragonfly Farm write-up for all things to see and do and Brian's warmth and availability. Would highly recommend!
My friend and I stayed in the Tree House for a reunion weekend and had a great time! The location of Brian’s property was perfect for exploring, hiking and having a very nice space to come back to at the end of the day! Brian was fantastic with communication, recommendations and ensuring we felt welcome. Highly recommend booking this spot!
We enjoyed this artist’s apartment very much. Had everything we needed, very clean and well designed furnishings. The grounds were lovely! Communication was excellent. Convenient to beaches, Portland sites and restaurants. Would highly recommend 👍
This property was just what we were looking for! Absolutely stunning garden and outdoor space. The guesthouse had everything we needed for a 5 day trip. Brian was such a wonderful host and had many recommendations for us for the nearby area. It was a quick drive to the beach and also into Portland, which was super convenient! Definitely recommend this stay!!!
I can’t say enough wonderful things about this property and the kind couple who hosted us. Brian was exceptionally kind and helpful to get us settled in the space. The garden and general scenery were so well cared for - a treat to be a guest! Everything about the lodging was so intentional and thoughtful. We loved being so close to all the things but on a sweet & quiet street.
Great location. Clean room. Good accommodations. We picked up a few groceries and ate breakfast there every morning. I would recommend this place to anyone that can handle a few steps.
Brian was very welcoming, great to work with and very available. I would have loved to see the property in bloom. We really enjoyed the hot tub and the morning light. Our only challenge was not quiet enough lighting in the kitchen area.

What a beautiful, private, peaceful, and comfortable stay; we were so close to so many wonderful attractions and great restaurants and a nice grocery store. Our host was amazing. We had a very long day of travel due to cancelled flights and delayed flights. After almost 17 hours of travel, we were greeted by Brian and he walked us through the property and even assisted with our luggage. You can feel the love that the owners have for this property. We woke the next morning to see the beautiful flowers on our deck. The Dahlias were amazing as well as the trees. It was private, clean, and cozy. We cannot say enough about how wonderful our stay was. We will definitely be back. Thank you to our gracious host.
This was our 2nd stay and as before the property didn’t disappoint. We enjoy the location near family in South Portland, but it provides a comfortable and scenic rest away from activities. We always enjoy walking at Two Lights, Fort Williams and Higgins Beach just short drives from this location. We had memorable dining experiences at Scales and Luke Lobster at nearby Portland. Enjoying our morning coffee on site among the scenic gardens, birdsong and wildlife is a treasure. The hosts are supportive and helpful though never intrusive. We look forward to a future return.
Brian reached out to us while we were still traveling to let us know how things would be when we arrived, and met up with us later that evening. We truly enjoyed the area, and loved exploring. It was our 1st time in Maine. We saw so many beautiful places from Ft. Williams and the lighthouse to Wolfe's Neck Park in Freeport. The ferry ride to Peaks Island and the bike ride around were amazing. Maine is so beautiful. We will definitely be back.
What an enjoyable and relaxing respite! The location was quiet & private but a quick drive to restaurants, sites & attractions. Best of both worlds. Our host (Brian) was friendly and gracious. He made sure we had everything we needed and was a joy to talk to. This property is definitely worth returning to!
We were met by Brian and given a tour of the gardens and the ‘tree house’ space we were staying in. The gardens were beautiful and gave the space a private feeling. The tree house was unique and well equipped. It was a comfortable resting place for two! Brian also gave us great information about where to go in Cape Elizabeth (beaches, restaurants etc). And Portland is very close, about 15 minutes away. We would love to stay here again on our next visit to Portland.
The space was pristine, comfortable and the kitchenette and sitting area amenities were perfect. Although adjacent to the owner property it is very private and secluded. The art displayed within is like staying in a gallery. The loft bedroom is very cozy with blackout shades and a nice bed and bedding. Close to everything in a beautiful Cape Elizabeth neighborhood near Ft Williams and the Portland Head Light and minutes from downtown Portland. We enjoyed our stay very much and will certainly return.
My wife and I had a wonderful relaxing experience. When we arrived, we met with our host, Brian. Brian was friendly, accommodating and helpful. He gave us a tour of the property and pointed out the features of our space. Brian also provided a well thought out list of local restaurants and points of interest. Having been to Maine a number of times in the past, we were somewhat familiar with the area, but it was refreshing to get a locals opinion. We enjoyed privacy and peace with a separate entrance to our two story quarters. The hot tub was wonderful after a "long hard day" of playing traveler. The location was perfect for us. Cape Elizabeth is a suburban town very close to all the action in Portland, but far enough away for peace and quiet. We were within a few minutes drive to lighthouses, hiking trails and other quaint, small towns on the Maine coast. Thank you, Brian & Jocelyn - two thumbs up!!! We enjoyed ourselves and would definitely recommend staying at their property.
The location and environment were ideal, access to the beach and to Portland and away from the summer crowds contributed to our restorative time in Cape Elizabeth. Our interactions with Brian were warm and kind and the space itself romantic and full of an artist's touch. The beauty of the space and it's surrounds were only made more complete with the presence of Charlotte, Jane and Elizabeth, pet geese . This is truly a special place. Carol and Fred
My partner and I had a wonderful stay at Brian and Jocelyn's property. The listing is exactly as described, and we enjoyed using the grill and the hot tub. The gardens are beautiful, and we loved seeing the geese greet us by our car. Although it was getting hot outside, we remained completely comfortable opening the bedroom windows at night; we barely used the AC provided. Some great local places are nearby- I recommend Red's Dairy Freeze for some delicious soft serve. This location is ideal for day trips as we explored Portland, Kennebunkport, Freeport, and Boothbay. Brian went above and beyond to ensure we were comfortable and gave us some excellent suggestions on local beaches. Thank you, Brian and Jocelyn!
