We arrived at the house and were immediately greeted by… marijuana. On the counter. And tucked sweetly under a bed pillow. Nothing says “welcome getaway” like a strong eau de pot the moment you walk in. Truly sets the vibe, just not the one we were hoping for.To be fair, the host did refund our cleaning fee (shoutout for that), because the cleaners clearly believed in a “lived-in aesthetic.” The place felt a little grungy, like it had stories to tell… and maybe some we didn’t want to hear.We decided to embrace wholesome family fun and break out some board games, only to discover a thrilling half deck of cards in the cupboard. Nothing spices up game night like inventing new rules because you’re missing half the deck.The pool looked inviting… until we dipped our toes in and discovered it was apparently fed directly by melted glaciers. And just when we thought the temperature was the biggest surprise, we noticed generous hunks of long black hair floating around like the pool was auditioning to be a shampoo commercial. Nothing says “relaxing swim” like playing “what just touched my leg?” Next time, we’re splurging on heated and freshly skimmed, water. Lesson learned. No kayaksAround 2 a.m., the smoke alarm decided we all needed a surprise adrenaline rush. Nothing bonds a group like a middle-of-the-night panic. Thankfully, the host came through with a new battery the next dayIf you enjoy king beds that squeak this place is for you. The host was attentive and very responsive.
