We have given the owner a week to resolve the issues we had before leaving this review but alas, she has not responded to our messages or VRBO’s phone call or email.
We had a really bad experience with this property owner. The property had been double booked and we arrived to another group staying in the rental we booked which meant we had to panic book a hotel room on the Friday of the thanksgiving long weekend. So there we were, standing in the rental, among others belongings, with all our luggage and two small children.
If felt very wrong to be standing in a rental, amongst other peoples belongings without them knowing or their consent. We were violating their privacy and the worst is, I don’t think the owner ever told them we were in their space when they weren’t there (albeit briefly but still). It scares me that anyone who has stayed at the property in the past has a passcode and can let themselves in at anytime of day or night.
Further frustration is that this owner has not refunded us! Even after VRBO called them and emailed them asking them to cancel our booking so that we could be fully refunded.
When we spoke to the owner, her response was “take it up with the platform”. Completely unprofessional and dismissive. She also claimed she found us another rental within 15 minutes which is completely not true! It took her over an hour to find a smaller rental and by that time, we had already booked into a hotel and we were feeding our kids.
So be careful. If you rent this space, anyone who has stayed there before has access to the rental as they do not change the door code. Further, don’t expect to be refunded for something that wasn’t delivered and when you ask, expect to be ignored.
