Courtyard Cottage at Dam Hall Barn is a delightful semi-detached stone built cottage that has been lovingly restored over time. It is full of warmth, charm and character including beamed ceilings and some relatively low doorways. Set around a pretty cobbled courtyard next to the friendly owner’s home, it can be found at the end of a private drive in the peaceful village of Peak Forest, in the heart of the Peak District National Park. To the rear of the property is a private sitting-out/eating area offering superb, far-reaching countryside views and although there are steps in the garden there is a longer route you can take where there are none. In the adjoining fields you will find hens roaming freely and, from a safe distance, can observe busy bees flying back and forth from a small number of pretty white-painted hives.
Surrounded by excellent walking country you’ll find ample lanes, bridleways and paths perfect for cycling and walking. A 10-minute stroll will take you directly to a local pub serving food, which also provides a small shop supplying essentials. Eldon Hole, one of the seven wonders of the Peak District, is just over a mile away. The large village of Tideswell with ample amenities can be reached in around a 5-minute drive, and the pretty village of Edale, which is also home to the start/end of the long distance Pennine Way footpath, is around a 15-minute drive. The beautiful honeypot village of Castleton can also be reached in around 15 minutes, as can the fascinating plague village of Eyam. The larger towns of both Buxton and Bakewell are just 20 minutes away making this a wonderful central base. Larger shops/supermarkets 4¼ miles, pub and restaurant 175 yards.

The cottage was really cosy and comfortable. It had everything we needed for our stay. The location was very rural (no local shop, no mobile signal in the cottage) but only 5 miles from Buxton and less from Chapel en le Frith and only 1 hour from Manchester. We had a great week, thank you Helen and Gordon.

Lovely stay at this cottage, exactly what we were looking for. Loved the quirky light switches, stable door and amazing country views. Had information about things to do nearby, board games and some tasty treats when we arrived. Host very friendly and welcoming.

A beautiful cottage, full of unique features but lovely and warm, and very comfortable. Everything I needed for my short stay. The owners were very welcoming and helpful. At hand if you needed anything. Lovely views from the sun trap terrace to the rear.
