「The Retreat is gorgeous. The views of the Volcano and Lake are amazing. The pescatarian menu is perfect for vegetarians and pescatarians. All three meals are served. We did not have meals included but very much enjoyed dinner and breakfast there. The pocket sized gathering places are charming - slider over looking lake, dining room and reception, the separate lounge area with tea and coffee looking into the jungle. The evening walk was fun. The property is on the top of a very steep hill...

「Lovely self sustaining eco resort in the midst of the forest. We loved the food, the coziness of the cabin, the yoga classes, and wandering around the property. The farm tour and the night tour were fun activities to do with a 4 year old. We did not like: occasional smell of sewage around the property, especially around the pools. Dated bathrooms in cabins - needs a refresh. Construction noise around the property. 」

「We had a wonderful stay at Sangregado Lodge! The views were lovely and the staff was super helpful! The room was so thoughtfully decorated as well. A few things I wish they would include: places to hang towels, especially wet towels. Also, Since it rains so often and you have to walk a fair distance from the car to your villa, they are nice to provide us with umbrellas, but we track in a lot rain water and bugs. The drive in is lengthy but scenic. We will definitely be back!」

「We had a great stay at Fortuna Retreat. Only notes would be that the room could be a bit cleaner (in the corners of the bathroom, behind furniture) and the view from the ground floor rooms is not as advertised- you can’t get a clear view of the volcano. Otherwise the staff were amazing, the pool was lovely and the grounds were extremely well kept with beautiful greenery.」

「This place was AMAZING and by far the best place we have ever stayed at. We loved everything about it. It felt like a home we didn’t want to leave. We loved the kitchenette, used the spa every night and I loved the big SOFT fluffy throw blanket. And the indoor/ outdoor shower was amazing. We were sad to leave. We did the chocolate and coffee tour across from the property and loved it and how close it was. The pictures on the website when booked met my expectations of what I was hoping for and...

「Tifakara was an absolute dream. We wanted a boutique hotel that was integrated into the jungle and that's exactly what we got! The property is gorgeous, with winding paved paths through the jungle to get to each room. We visited the onsite frog sanctuary each night to hear the 100s of frogs (and try to spot just a few!). 「The view and the owner/hostess made our stay! The personal attention at breakfast was delightful. This feels more like renting a villa with a morning chef than like a hotel. There are a couple good restaurants at the bottom of the hill for dinner. The drive to La Fortuna is 30 minutes. Be aware there is no air conditioning. There are windows with screens on 3 sides of the villa so the breeze is nice. In the morning you’ll hear a beautiful symphony of birds. I would stay here again.」
