Originally built in the 12th century as the chapel of the residence of the Count of Flanders, the church houses a venerated relic of the Holy Blood allegedly collected by Joseph of Arimathea and brought from the Holy Land by Thierry of Alsace, Count of Flanders. Built between 1134 and 1157, it was promoted to minor basilica in 1923. The 12th-century basilica is located in the Burg square and consists of a lower and upper chapel. This is a charming boutique hotel with 18th-19th century detail centraly located in Bruges. The staff was attentive and helpful. Check in and check out was easy. The swimming pool is small but refreshing. Our room was a suite which was quiet and comfortable. The hotel is centrally situated with easy walking access everywhere in Bruges and about 10 min taxi from train station. The view of the central canal was beautiful. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay (family of 4, two children).

Tres déçu de l'hôtel. Nous avions pris la suite Junior loin des images proposées. Des odeurs d'égout pendant les deux jours. Le deuxième jour le couvre-lit avait été jeté dans un coin de la chambre. La piscine super belle mais très glacé car pas chauffé. Heureusement que l hotel est très bien placé et que l acceuil et le petit-déjeuner sont extra. Je ne conseille pas cet hôtel surtout au prix pratiqué

Ideally situated, this hotel is a little different to the standard fair. All the staff were extremely helpful and informative, giving really good recommendations. We thoroughly enjoyed relaxing in the elegant Versailles styled piano room and the pool/sauna area was delightful too.

Hotel Die Swaene is a true gem in the heart of Bruges. It captures the character of the city with its old fashioned decor & furniture. For those who give a low rating, you have to realise that this is how it supposed to be and to modernise it would spoil it. We were made to feel welcome & we were shown around the hotel before getting to our canal view room. Everything was comfortable, especially the bed, and the bathroom was fantastic (this has been modernised). There was a mini bar in the room & Nespresso coffee machine. Plenty of room & very comfortable. The hotel is located centrally & is just a short walk to all of the tourist attractions, bars & restaurants. I would highly recommend for couples looking for a romantic hotel to stay in.

Fantastisk hotel med masser af historie og charme midt i (som lige præcist midt i) skønne Brugge. Kan klart anbefales. Hvis I bestiller uden morgenmad er der en skøn cafe lige på den anden side af kanalen, der ligeledes kan anbefales.

Brilliant Bruges break

Fabulous location right in the heart of the city, canal right out the front of the building and minutes walk from the main sights, many great local restaurants and bars to chose from, just take cash as card is not always accepted. Hotel had very characterful rooms and super helpful and friendly staff. I will certainly recommend this hotel to both friends and colleagues.

Very good value for the price.

Within walking distance of everything except train station. Room had canal view, all the amenities you need, very good breakfast buffet, but most of all, the staff here are INCREDIBLE. The hotel itself, could use a little facelift, but I´d stay here again in a heartbeat!!!!!!!!!!!!

クラシックな建物で入り口を入ったとたんに18世紀頃に迷い込んだ感じがした。フロントのマダムがにこやかに応対。広々した部屋。ベッドの向こうには時代を感じさせる暖炉の上には凝った燭台。優雅な鏡台、そしてソファーと椅子。中庭もついていて、見上げると蔦の這う壁と真っ青な空。 バスローブも備え付け。 朝食も優雅な食堂で、20ユーロでたっぷり楽しめた。

Our stay at the hotel was fantastic! It is perfectly situated in the old town by the canal, and the interior was beautiful. Unfortunately we had a very drunk couple in the poolarea, when we needed to relax a bit, and the hotel staff did not really do much about it when we told them, which I would have wished. But otherwise the hotel is really to be recommended.
